The Racehorse

The Racehorse is a fantastic pub! I haven’t tried their food but I hear it’s very very good, especially the Sunday lunch. The drinks are reasonably priced and good, with the typical choice you’re going to get. The staff are friendly, including the landlord Andy who’s really great to talk to, and the people that frequent the pub are also very friendly. It’s a generally nice place to either start the night or carry on through the night really. Highly recommended.

Five stars for the Sunday Roast! I am a very fussy eater and do not usually like to eat my Sunday Roast out, as I really love my home-​cooked roast, but I hate to say it, I enjoyed it as much as I enjoy mine. It was freshly cooked, no reheated rubbish, hot, tasty, great vegetables, fabulous freshly cooked roasties and the beef was exactly as I like it, tender and succulent! My boyrfiend, my 8 year old and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and my 8 year old polished off his plate with no problem, and it was not a kids meal!

Good meaty roasts and friendly service. The beer is all fine and the locals are if anything too friendly. Sometimes you need to be intent on your conversation to stop them joining in. However it’s a good local and they are very dog friendly. Relaxed place for a sunday lunch

The Racehorse is a family run pub in Carshalton that is noted for it’s food, particularly for it’s Sunday lunches. Friendly, well-​decorated with helpful staff, The Racehorses real strength is in its menu, which is a must for anyone who enjoys fish and meat dishes. Its one main drawback is that it provides few choices for vegetarians, focussing on the traditional vegetarian lasagne /​salad options. I have eaten the roast beef and roast lamb (cooked rare for the meat connoisseurs), skate, plaice, haddock and poached eggs among many others and have never had any complaints. If you like traditional straight forward food well cooked The Racehorse is the place for you.

Das Racehorse liegt nur etwa 200 meter von meiner Wohnung entfernt in Carshalton, einem Vorort von London. Der Bahnhod Carshalton ist von Victoria Station in 20 Minuten zu ereichen. Von dort sind es etwas 800 Meter bis zum Racehorse. früher mehr eine «Kneipe» für Einheimische, hat sich dieser Pub in den letzten 20 Jahren zu einem wahren geheimtip gemausert.
Eine Weinkarte mit Weinen aus der ganzen Welt, z.B. Faustino VII, Rioja Bodegas Faustino 2004, pro Flasche für 12,50 engl. Pfund.
Eine reichhaltige Speisekarte macht es schwer sich zu entscheiden. Zusätzlich gibt es im Sallon eine große Auswahl von englischem Pubfood.
Music-​Nights wie z.B. «Jazz at Jules» werden regelmäßig veranstaltet.
