The Brown Cow comprises a bar and bistro. I would eat in the bistro regularly, and it is fantastic. They have a small but varied menu with something for all tastes, and they REALLY know how to cook their menu to perfection. A favourite of mine is the salmon, it is absolutely delicious and considering the high quality of the food, it is very fairly priced. I don’t think the restaurant gets the attention it deserves, unfortunately, due to the reputation of the bar. It has a slight reputation locally as a bit of a rough place, and now because of the smoking ban, there are regularly crowds of people crowded out the front, which I imagine might put some people off. This said however, I have had a few drinks in the bar on numerous occasions, and not had any problems at all — so I would definitely recommed this little gem!

Unfortunately this place really doesn’t attract the nicest crowd in the world, which is a shame as the food is grand. A friend had her meal interrupted by a band coming in after their parade, and generally being noisy and obnoxious. This place has potential but wouldn’t appeal to everyone.

I had some food here recently. It doesn’t look very appealing from the outside If I’m being honest however the food was very nice and the staff were welcoming and friendly. I dare say the bar downstairs is not the most family orientated late on a weekend, and the general locality has a reputation for being somewhat ‘rough’, but the establishment itself does a fine job.

Bar is ok, pretty baisc and not very well decorated. The staff are nice, not overly-friendly but the food is amazing and really quite cheap. Some dodgy looking people hanging about though.
