Been going there for 7 years, today was treated so badly for no reason by the owner, I have resorted to reporting the matter to the police, for verbal abuse. I do not appreciate being told to f**k off in public for NO reason. I am a local resident of this area, and spend all I am able in local businesses rather than give it to multi nationals. This owner needs to learn respect for local customer support, and NOT abuse her customers. I do hope the police support me in my complaint. The 7 year fake smiles ended today when this business showed it’s true colours. Take your money, smile, but be ready for a ‘f**k you, when it it suits her. Avoid this place, she’s a phoney, all she wants is your money, and gives nothing but hate back to her community.

A cut above the normal greasy spoon because they offer granary toast! We found the service very friendly and accommodating with our menu alterations. Inside is small with fixed formica seating and hymns on the radio;outside is sunny with hanging baskets and the perfect spot for a milkshake with ice-cream even at breakfast time. Sunday lunch is also served. The diner is to be found down the green alleyway on Wellfield road, opposite Tesco.

Blink and you’ll miss it; The Wellfield Diner is tucked away off Wellfield Road. But search it out and you’re in for a pleasant surprise. It’s a tiny café whose walls are adorned with cross-stitch pictures and merry slogans, whose stereo is firmly set to Radio 2 and whose grub is honest, cheap and hearty and comes on plates with flowers on. I was going to write no frills, but the unexpectedly large specials board(all £4.80) laid waste to that. The smudge marks on the chalk board suggest that it changes frequently too. Breakfasts, sarnies and even roasts are the staples and they’ll do you a milky coffee. You get the impression that the patrons have been coming here for years; the sense of community is bolstered by the notice board advertising local events and services. The Wellfield Diner is a homely joint, that’s instantly welcoming and worth finding.

This is a good, solid local café with reasonably friendly staff; traditional, British home-cooked food; and great desserts — plus a few oddball locals just to complete the scene. They do cooked breakfasts, including a vegetarian version, which aren’t really my cup of tea, and they do a fantastic range of desserts, which on the other hand definitely are my cup of tea. Or you could have fish and chips, roast dinners, and other simple but filling meals and snacks. They have indoor seating, or outside in the arcade area you can enjoy the sun at their picnic tables, with cheerful coloured bunting flapping overhead to brighten up the area. It’s fairly near Roath Park, so can make a good stop off for brunch or lunch if you’re off to the park without a picnic.

Wellfield Diner is the mainstay of Wellfield Court Arcade. With its outdoor seating in this peaceful little enclave, it offers a little slice of heaven on a manic, hot summers day! The tea is proper English… considering it comes all the way from Asia and is served up in Wales… just like all proper English tea should be! The price is proper too! Wellfield Diner are responsible for all of the bunting and the pergola style beams that adorn the central section of the mall, making the place feel more intimate, and defending it from ambient noise. Clever! The food is great, and more extensive than you’d expect. They even do roasts! There’s all the usual favourites as well; cooked breakfasts, fish and chips as well as plenty of good stuff from the grill.
