Tried the pork and Wagamama house special ramens. Both were excellent. Fast and attentive service, waiter was very conversational. Also had a blueberry juice which tasted more blended than juiced, but was still very tasty. The location is the key benefit here as you get a gorgeous view of Cardiff Bay, the Millennium Center and Roald Dahl Plaza. Excellent views and they didn’t seem to care that we snapped some pictures during our meal of the view outside. The interior is very bright during the day as a result of the location and large bay windows. Note that this location is on the second floor. I wish this chain was more pervasive in the US, as there’s not a ton of ramen options around us in Texas…

After being disappointed in the serious loss of decently good Asian restaurants during my visit to Wales(cut me some slack, I was seriously spoiled growing up in a Chinese family and Asian area), I was really excited in discovering Wagamama. Ambiance: Great location right in Cardiff Bay with beautiful views. Clean, with long tables for sitting and minimal but classy decoration. Customer Service: Pretty bad for the environment. Wagamama looks pretty high quality and classy, whereas a lot of the employees seem a bit delinquish-ish, very indifferent, and just plops the food down with absolutely no personality whatsoever. If they were more enthusiastic about their customer service as they are covering their bodies in tattoos and piercings, I might’ve had a much better experience. Food: Pretty good, although not really authentic. I ordered Spicy Miso Soup Ramen w/Chicken and it was delicious and well-made, but the Miso Soup didn’t taste authentic at all. Same goes for the plate of Gyoza — good, but definitely lacks a lot of authenticity. — Fair warning: WAGAMAMAISEXPENSIVE. Delicious meals, but sky-high prices that are just not worth it. Plus, do not come here if you want anything authentic. The food isn’t bad, but if you’re an Asian food-enthusiast like me, prepare to be a bit disappointed.

The food is good and hits the spot but a bit pricey for noodles and pot stickers.

This particular outlet is situated down Cardiff Bay and good if you happen to be down there checking out the scenery. That is my most positive comment I’m afraid. Nice location. The food is pretty good and I have enjoyed my meal, the service is fast, but there are so many things about this place that I hate. Do you like practically sitting on people’s laps as you eat? Do you like hearing that someone’s boyfriend has been a bit of a useless donkey for the past week? Well I don’t, that is why you will not find me in this restaurant in the future. Who wants to feel like they are dining with strangers, I just don’t get it. This should be how to not run a restaurant but for some reason, people are absolutely in love with it and I just don’t get it. I object to paying rather a lot of money for my meal, yet feel like I’m dining in a school canteen, it all just doesn’t add up for me I’m afraid. Don’t get me wrong, I like people, I find them entertaining and useful, but I sure as hell don’t want to meet some while I’m slurping up my noodles.

Following huge success in London, Wagamama now has two restaurants in Cardiff, the more pleasantly located of which lies in Cardiff Bay. Fitting in exceptionally well with the broad range of stylish and modern eateries on offer in this area, Wagamama is a really pleasant place to go for a light, yet filling meal. With it’s clean-cut interior, airy and relaxed atmosphere, the Cardiff Bay Wagamama provides quite a unique experience. Without flashy décor and false presences, this place is about serving good quality thai food at affordable prices. Those wanting the full package from their dining experience need not waste their time here, as you wont find charming waiters, fine wine and candlesticks. Perhaps those of a younger age bracket will have a greater appreciation for the service provided, although middle-aged couples will be just as at home here if they enjoy this genre of food. With the food reasonably priced, relatively healthy and extremely tastey, i’d recommend this place to a lot of people. Its convenient location makes it ideal for those wishing to enjoy a few drinks after at the nearby bars.

I don’t know what it is about this place, but I can’t seem to like it no matter how much I want to. Whether it’s the false, synthetic interior or the congregational benches in place of traditional tables, but I can’t help but find this restaurant to be much more than a jacked up Oriental canteen. Don’t get me wrong, the food is great and the service is pretty snappy, but the whole feel of the place screams«corporate business lunch» and, in my opinion, this takes away from the enjoyment of the entire restaurant. I can see why so many people love this chain, but if I’m in the Bay area, I’d rather sample the more authentic Asian restaurants such as the Pearl of the Orient or The Bay restaurant downstairs.

Every now and again I get an urge — hey keep it clean! What I mean is I get a burning urge to stuff Wagamama’s food into my gob and nothing else with suffice. There are very few restaurants that give me this specific urge. I also dont mind it because compared to the other urges I get this is relatively healthy. Anyhow — I’m so glad there is a Wagamama in Cardiff as I worked in London for a few years and used to visit them at least once a month and its something I really missed when I moved back to Cardiff. Now the have 2! Cardiff Bay’s Wagamama is a lovely bright airy restaurant overlooking the bay and very rarely too busy. If you’ve never been before I’d recommend the Katsu Curry.

Noodles from this place is spectacular and the staff are friendly and courteous . Its very deceptive from the entrance and could be mistaken for any type of business. The interior is very basic. The food is enjoyable and they have had my patronage many times. Still confuses me how they don’t advertise more on the entrance, you could easily walk past here and not know it existed. They are bringing the communal noodle eating style to the uk.

I like to think I put the mama in Wagamama. I am totally in love with this restaurant. The food is fantastic and the staff are warm and welcoming… What more can a girl want. This branch of Wagamama has a spectacular view looking out over the bay and on a cold wet evening there is nothing I like more than to sit on the end table near the window with my course work, eating my favourite dishes watching the world go by. A must for everybody visiting the bay! … See you there… I will be the one sitting with my nose up to the glass people watching. ;-)

Great restaurant in the bay. Delicious food and quick service. I would recommened everything on the menu! Drinks are a bit expensive and can mount up quickly but the food itself great value.

Just to add about the view, it’s great and over looks the water. Especially great on a warm day. The staff are really friendly here and helpful, despite our best to confuse the life out of him. The food is as excellent here as any other I’ve been too aswell and the flavours really do fight to separate themselves and be counted on your tastebuds. I’m surprised aswell as the price, I thought it would be alot more expensive, but for a main meal and drink your looking at just over a tenner. Not bad, especially for the level of service and quality of food.

Fun fact, this was the first Wagamama in the country not to be situated in a basement. It’s a good precident to set too because the food is light and tasty and so is the setting. The view is fabulous especially in the summer so stock up on Ramen and watch the world go by.

I love this restaurant. The food is delicious, in particular the wasabi chocolate cake! The place has a really nice atmosphere, and the noodle bar layout with big benches is a unique and different idea. Although this can be annoying if it is busy and you end up sat next to people who are quite noisy and intrusive. The staff are super friendly, and very helpful and considerate. The prices are also really good, especially for such nice food. :)

I know it’s a chain, but I love it. Location of this Wagamama is a good one. You go upstairs and can look down on Plas Roald Dahl to see all the families and tourists milling about. Great for people watching. Food is always good. I have only had one experience in which the service was slow.

Enjoyed my first ever visit to a Wagamama. The service was a teensy bit slow, considering that the restaurant was more empty than full, but the food was good, so in the end we didn’t mind waiting. Ordered Gyoza, Edamame, Yaki Udon, Yaki Soba and it was perfect for two people. The food came to £21.60 and i certainly didn’t mind paying just over a tenner for some lovely tucker. Drinks are pricey. Ordered a bottle of tiger beer which cost £3.20 and a 250ml glass of wine cost £5.05. You could quite quickly rack up a significant drinks bill if you were with friends having a laugh and not keeping your eye on the talley. I like the fact that there’s no dresscode whatsoever and the crowd seems to be very mixed. It’s definitely worth a look.

Enjoyable to try once. Went there for my birthday last year not long after they opened. Was completely prepared for food to arrive at different times as we knew that before going. However, some dishes arrived well over 30 mins following order so food that we had ordered, specified at the time that we would like as starters and this had been acknowledged, we got towards the end of our meal. I can imagine some people may get a little disgruntled if there is a large party of them, as you can’t pre-book and we saw on the occasion we went entire parties baing split up and situated all around.

This matches the mould for most Wagamamas. It is a large loft like space filled with long tables with benches. There is one wall of windows that does offer some relief from the bland interior of the restaurant, providing views out towards the bay. Wagamamas offers a particular experience, it is not fine dining or intimate dining. It offers, I believe, the convenience of eating somewhere quickly and at a reasonable price. It can be over noisy when the space is full, I suppose due to the lack of soft furnishings. While the menu is fairly small it offers a good variety of tastes. The food is, of course freshly made to order, although I imagine there is a lot of ready prepared ingredients waiting to be mixed to produce the finished dish. Whilst most people make use of the chop sticks some people request cutlery. They only have forks and spoons, no knives available. Green tea is free and available on request.

I recently had an excellent meal here with my mother. It has not been up very long and the staff were really excellent, very friendly and helpful. Its the usual wagama set up with long tables and benches and lots of big bowls of steaming noodles. Be prepared to sit next to a stranger though if they are busy! Food comes out as soon as it is served so will probably not all be received at the same time, but this never seems to be a problem. Our food was served really quick and was noce and hot when we got. The duck dumplings were amazing, I would go back again and again just for them! They do a childrens menu and activity pack to keep little ones busy. The only thing I don’t like about this Wagamaa is that the toilets are unisex, call me old fashioned but I prefer not to be anywhere near the other sex when toilets are involved!

Considering its a chain i always notice the difference in the curry sauce between wagamamas. This one in Cardiff was definately more spicier than others i’d tried. Very trendy crowd in this wagamama — so top marks for the staff not batting an eyelid when a guy in hoodie, combats, and shaved head asks for a table for 1!!! Food was spot on, staff all really friendly. I’ve noted from another review that there was criticism about the veggie curry — well it’s served exactly how described — slices of vegetables, fried in breadcrumbs, served with a curry sauce and mound of rice — and it’s amazing. No matter how hard i try i always end up coming back to the yasai katsu curry. Would definately go back(and cute customers were a bonus). Oh — the other difference — this is the first wagamama i’ve been to that you go upstairs to — very confusing ;)
