Paul Bernard Unisex Salon is a cheap and cheerful little salon that isn’t too dissimilar to Crop Shop a little ways down the Albany Road. If offers the usual basic hair treatments: colouring, tinting, highlights and lowlights etc… as well as trims and cuts with blow drying for both men and women, and so it does a little bit more than its nearest competitor, with similar price tags attached for commensurate services. The Crop Shop is a barbers, and so this is why they limit what they do, but the bulk of the business at Paul Bernard is comprised of women’s hairdressing despite being a ‘his and hers’ salon. Probably slightly more tailored towards a more mature client base, with a more conservative approach to hair styling than the more modern salons in the area,(like Errol Willy on Wellfield Road, Hair 2 Day and Vavoom also on Albany Road, and La Femme in the Wellfield Arcade), Paul Bernard Unisex Salon occupies a little bit of a niche in the area. This is not to say that they aren’t good at providing cuts and colouring for the younger generations also. It’s simply a question of taste.
