Meddygfa Lansdowne Surgery

This is the best Doctor’s surgery I have ever been registered with. If you’re moving to the Canton/​Vicky Park area it is definitely worth getting on the waiting list.
The surgery is always clean and well presented. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the waiting area is vast a quite comfortable (none of those weird NHS high back seats in teal!)
It is always relatively easy to get an appointment, with plenty of emergency appointments and reception staff always keen to find a quick appointment for you rather than putting you off and quizzing you on your illness.
The nurses are great and really helpful with additional care and advice.
You may not see the same GP every time, but they are all really good as doctors — quick to listen and you really feel like they’re trying to help. Some really long term issues have been solved as a result of these doctors listening abilities.
And, for prescriptions and repeat prescriptions you can order and collect from the tiny Boots next door. Really, really can’t fault it!

Conveniently situated for residents of the nearby Lansdowne Gardens new-​build red brick housing estate, the Meddygfa Lansdowne Surgery is a modern doctors’ surgery with a handy bite-​sized Boots pharmacy about two strides away next door. The waiting room is clean, large and airy, with a television to while away the minutes before your appointment and the staff are particularly friendly and efficient (doubtless thanks to the above-​average working environment). Parking is easy and plentiful, either on street or in a small car park around the back, although it is quite quiet as the road isn’t a thoroughfare and the nearby businesses are mainly industrial units. Basing its public operations on the ground floor, meanwhile, means there are no stairs to negotiate for older or less able-​bodied patients. Given that visiting the doctor is usually either a necessity, unpleasant or worse, Meddygfa Lansdowne Surgery does make the whole experience a bit more comfortable and that’s about all you can ask for.

This Practice moved from Canton Health Centre, Wessex Street to a purpose built surgery in September 2003. The super swish modern building has a ramp for ease of access for disabled patients, and all consulting rooms are on the ground floor. They have a car park to the rear of the building for patients, staff and visitors. Boots the Chemist are attached to the building too, which makes life easier.
