I write this review as a concerned parent who had to deal with Keylet on behalf of my son as they ignored his concerns. The let was from July 2011 to June 2012. Half rent was agreed for July and thereafter full rent. Keylet informed my son that the property was ready. Keys were collected on 1st August, The property was in such a state that I personally helped my son catalogue over 80 faults. The property had not been cleaned since the last tenants left in June. Keylet refused to visit the property to see for themselves and termed the issues a minor. Out of the 6 beds 3 were totally broken. The toilet was blocked and stank of urine. The kitchen was filthy beyond belief and the main shower had a live electrical fault. In the end we had to make a video and take photographs as evidence. Beneficial possession was not taken for another 3 weeks and the final inventory was not agreed until November. Full rent was paid even when the property was totally uninhabitable. At the end of the tenancy the exit report was conducted and the tenants were asked to leave the property when it was being undertaken. The students cleaned the property under the supervision of one of the parents and it was truly immaculate. Photographs were taken and it was a reverse scenario. Filthy to begin with and super clean when handed back. Keylet demanded £1000 approx due to damages. The exit report writer commented that there was fluff behind the radiators(that is how clean the property was that the inspection had to resort to looking behind radiators). Keylet TOTALLY refused to answer any of our letters and simply tried to keep the monies and hope that the students would somehow go away. It was only when we threatened court action for breach of contract that they reluctantly agreed to hold a meeting. I found their behavior totally unprofessional and condescending towards my son. The tenants did everything by the book. The matter was finally settled but only after our determination not to allow them to get away with their tactics. Several months later Keylet told the Gas and Electric suppliers that the tenants were responsible for unpaid bills which was a total lie. All bills were paid and evidenced back to Keylet at the end of the tenancy so that the bond could be released. Yet still Keylet insisted that there were outstanding bills. They had a standard answer to all issues which basically put all faults at the tenants door. I finally complained to the managing director of keylet as to the totally unprofessional behaviour of the staff at the student office. I received a polite reply which was mainly focused on how many awards Keylet had won or number of organisations Keylet were a member of. In summary had we not made a video and cataloged the faults comprehensively then Keylet would have tried their best to retain as much of the bond on dubious grounds. I found this letting agency very unprofessional at every stage of the experience. If asked for my opinion I would certainly not recommend them at all.

I couldnt believe how bad this company were they are by far the most inefficient and haphazard company i’ve ever encountered. My daughter called me numerous times in fits of tears after the treatment she had, and the threatening nature of their staff. She had maintenance issues that were not acted upon, threatening language used against her when she sought to call trading standards, and other agencies that monitor estate agents activities. My daughter worked very hard at University and I’m disgusted in this company’s complete disregard for the well being of a customer. Any parents out there who’s children are going to Cardiff University, do not let them sign with Keylet.

When I first wanted to move in to the city I didn’t have any references or even a guaranteed job so not many places were willing to take us serious despite the fact I had a guarantor. After bad experiences with other places I was a bit nervous about what these would have to say but I can honestly say they gave us the best service and advice possible. We went to this branch because we wanted to live in Cardiff Bay and they certainly knew their stuff, listened to what we wanted and kept an eye out for anything that might be suitable for us. When we moved in they made the day that extra bit special by giving us a bottle of wine to celebrate. It was a really great experience and I would defiantly recommend them to anyone.
