Got Beef

Originally a street food vendor — Got Beef launched in 2012 as a mobile catering business.
Fast-​forward to 2015 and the beefy boys (couldn’t resist) have since launched their first restaurant in Whitchurch and shall soon be celebrating their first birthday.
Their menu features 7 signature burgers which include Vegetarian options.
On my last visit I had the ‘Soprano’ with crispy bacon, chorizo, Monterey Jack Cheese and Jalapeño Mayo — and of course I had to have the obligatory ‘Dirty Fries’ with melted cheese, bacon bits, jalapenos and chipotle sauce. Total = £11.45

I left wanting more which is always a (worryingly) good sign.

I really liked this place. I’m a massive burger fan, I’d like a burger restaurant of my own some day soon. So I was excited to try out Got Beef in Cardiff. I met up with a girl that I’d been chatting to online, so after a pint or two and deciding that she wasn’t a weirdo, I decided a burger joint would be the best idea to carry on our date. I wasn’t wrong.
This is an overview of my first experience, but I have since been back and enjoyed it just as much.
It was fairly quiet in there really, it was a Saturday night so I had expected it to be busier. It took a while for the taxi driver to find it, but he eventually dropped us off nearby and we walked to find it. There were some student looking people in there having a few beers and maybe another couple, that was it. It was about 9 – 9:30 by this time, so quite late to eat.
The food was great, I can make a better burger myself but then again I am fairly arrogant and I tend to boast about my burgers. I had the dirty fries as well which weren’t as dirty as i’d expected, grubby fries at best. I’d recommend this place though if you like a good burger. My date was impressed. I’m still seeing her now which I’m sure you’re all keen to know.
I had a beer with mine, and she had a coke, and it wasn’t very expensive.
They didn’t accept cards, which I found out when I received the bill. I had to spend 5 minutes running up the road like an idiot to get some cash out. That was the only negative thing I’d say.
The toilets were decent, as was the décor inside. Maybe the music was a little too loud, but I’m at that age now where I hate young people’s music, so it was probably just the right volume and I’m just being grumpy.
