NOTES: ~ I’ve only been in to sample some milkshakes, so can’t speak much about the food. I came here when I first immigrated to Wales from the United States and was pretty excited to see an American-style diner. Already, Ed’s got some points from me due to my homesickness. Atmosphere: As mentioned, Ed’s Easy Diner goes for the classic American diner look ie: neon lights and black and white checkered patterns. Although it might seem a little corny, I do like the décor. Unfortunately, the immersion breaks given how it’s right in the St. David’s Centre and you’re constantly fully aware that you’re having dinner at a shopping centre. Regardless, I do like the effort put into keeping the place up with the theme. Customer Service: Really friendly, from what I’ve experienced so far. Nothing special, but the employees were polite and efficient, which is all you really need from good service. Food: Like I mentioned earlier, I haven’t sampled the food. However, I have come for the milkshakes which were divine! Initially, seeing the £4.35 price tag on the milkshake made me a bit wary since it seemed a little bit expensive. However, the portions are huge so you can really share 1 shake between two people(and trust me, I can drink a LOT of milkshake). I recommend the Peanut Butter Milkshake! So yummy! — I can’t comment on the food and in all honesty, there’s probably a lot of better options elsewhere given that you’re in the centre of Cardiff. However, what I can say is that if you come for the milkshakes you won’t leave disappointed!

Ed’s Easy Diner is one of 21 that is in the UK. I had never been to any of the other ones but this one, I did enjoy. I am American and a sucker for diners back home(especially in New Jersey) so when I discover Americana like this, I always have to check it out. So my daughter and I did just that(she goes to the local university). I ordered one of the burgers which, I must say, was pretty darn good! She also had one and loved it just as much. They were reasonably priced as well. I don’t remember the prices but did take a photo of the menu, so you can check it out here. The desserts were also good — and fattening, especially the milkshakes and cheese cake. Sure, it was an American style diner and for the 45 minutes or so that we were there, I could have imagined being back home. Regardless, it was a nice break and a nice little slice of the USA for homesick Yanks and anybody wanting so decent grub.

I do enjoy the chilli in this diner, and the shakes are to die for(although you might feel a little guilty for the indulgence). I had the peanut butter shake, which had great big blobs of peanut butter in it(hooray!)
