Aim to arrive here before your stomach starts to rumble as if you’re going with more than one person there is usually around a 40 minute way. Opt to order from their ‘regular’ pub-grub menu or stick to the Sunday tradition and have a Carvery — minus the effort of ALL that washing up! You have the choice of either a small, standard or MEGA plate at the Cedar Tree. Once you’ve decided just how hungry you are, order your drinks and dinner at the bar. You’ll then be given a receipt which you have pass to the ‘Meat Man’(not his actual job title) who is standing behind the start of the Carvery. He will then serve you your selected meat(have all three if you like), Yorkshire pudding and Stuffing. The rest(veggies and sauces) you serve yourself. Note — I always choose to have a small plate(£4.95) as no matter how hungry(or hungover) I’m feeling I’ve NEVER managed to finish it. Try and be sensible and save room for their infamous ‘Pudding Palour’ which features the likes of a ‘Snickers Gâteau’, Marz Attack and Kinder Roulade — all of which you could easily split between four people! Honest. Yet if you do leave after having to undo the top button of your jeans choose to takeaway your slice of cake /ice cream. …you’ll thank me when you do. PS — They have free WI-FI.

I’ve only been here once, so I’m kind of sitting on the fence until I’ve experienced all of the facilities. The restaurant is split into an adult dining area, and family dining with play area for the kids. Not being the biggest fan of children, this was a big plus for me as we could have lunch in a quiet and relaxed area. There appeared to be a lot of business lunches happening too, so if you work in the area, you might want to give it a look. The food is good: huge meals for a sensible price! The desserts look absolutely fantastic, but I didn’t have room to try any. The service was great, all the people there are friendly and happy and seemed genuinely pleased to assist. I’m looking forward to visiting again and trying the desserts. The restaurant also features a «cake-away» so maybe I’ll get some to go!
