Cadwaladers has now ventured away from just being at the bay and now a another one is situated in St David’s 2 amongst the throng of slightly upmarket restaurants, therefore be prepared to pay slightly more for that Ice cream snack. It is however, extremely worth it to pay that extra, the Ice cream here is exceptional coming in a many a luxurious flavour. I opted for some boring vanilla– what can I say, I was in that mood — this vanilla was stunning, I never wanted it to end. It is extremely hard to walk past Cadwaladers without being drawn in by the array of colours offering you creamy goodness. They have lots of seating for you to sit and enjoy your Ice cream in a dish or you can take it away outside for a stroll around the green taking in the sights of. well…erm.the cinema and the job centre. Lovely. I like Ice cream, we all like Ice cream, give Cadwaladers a try, despite the ever so dodgy long name.

I wasn’t too impressed with the portion sizes here. I had scones and cream which were about 3 or 4 quid. The scones were tiny! In my head I’m picturing them the size of 50p pieces but I think that may be a little unfair. I also had an even tinier amount of jam and even with the miniscule scones found myself rationing it out meticulously. Weirdly though I got a huge amount of cream, leaving me with the most mismatched cream tea I’ve ever had. It tasted nice but it was over in about 2 bites, leaving me with a huge lump of cream on my plate. The tea was decent enough but I was still a little disappointed. I may have just picked the wrong thing from the menu though as loads of people love it here. I was jealous of the chocolate ice cream everyone I was with had the good sense to order. The service was a little slow and unfriendly and we queued for what seemed like ages, waiting longer for our orders to arrive. On a nice hot day it would be great here but now winter is setting in I can’t see myself paying Cadwaladers a visit until at least March 2011 when it starts to get a little warmer.

In the last week I’ve found a new passion in Cardiff, and have reluctantly faced the inevitable fact that Cadwalader’s Ice Cream Café is now part of my city routine. Positioned temptingly within the foodies’ corner of St Davids II, Cadwalader’s offers the most seductive array of flavours, guaranteed to make your mouth water. One glance at the multicoloured display of desserts will cause any solid decisions made when offered the dessert menu just minutes ago simply melt away. I have decided to embrace this fact and now spring up from nearby restaurants to journey towards the next part of my meal. For a mere £1.50 you can get a cone or tub of this delicious stuff, just enough food to finish off a lovely dinner and for you to enjoy while you ponder what to do next. URBANCHALLENGE: Go with a friend and choose a flavour. Then swap.

It’s an excellent idea — an ice cream parlour with a varander on stilts sitting on the bay. The only problem is this — when do you eat ice creams? Yes in the sun on hot day. BUT what do all people want to do on a hot day? Yes — sit outside eating ice cream(or drinking beer). So Cadwaladers get very busy on a sunny day BUT if you have the patience to stand in the queue for half an hour and get a seat over looking the bay its a great place to be. They have quite a few different flavours but I would recommend the strawberry sundae. It tastes delicious but don’t do as I did go for another thinking it will taste as good as the first as its a little over board. I would recommend this place on a Sunny weekday when you have more of a chance of getting a seat before the ice cream melts or on a cold wet day when you’re guaranteed not to have anyone challenging you for and outside seat.

Wales best kept secret! I’ll say so, by the sound of the title alone you can tell that they serve tasty and delicious food and drinks especially for your heart, or is it for your stomachs content? For six people to share they can do a Calypso Party Sundae or Party Time. With this you get a large glass globe filled with at least six portions of ice cream and sorbets and six choices of fresh fruit with sauce and cream. You need to ask for right number of spoons when you order or you can get six individual bowls. If you want any fresh water whilst you are there that is free. This one(as there are quite a few locations of places where these cafes are situated around Cardiff) is based within the cities centre in Saint David’s indoor shopping centre, on the first floor. There prices are good drinks are all way under five pounds. It is in a busy area, but the company is relaxing enough and friendly enough. The café it’s self does not seem to get too busy, which is what I prefer in any café or restaurant as everything is much more pleasant then. I recommend the place to all, especially those with a sweet tooth. I had a Monkey madness smoothie which was very yummy! It had Mangos; Bananas and ice cream in it. Delicious! I also had a Chocolate and biscuit, triangular cake to match…

The ice cream is beautiful, the service was rubbish! I went to the ice cream counter as opposed to the café because I just wanted something to take away and it was really confusing. There is no signage to tell you how the ice cream comes or what the prices are. I had never been there before so I didn’t know how it came. The server was just bored looking and gave one word answers. I eventually noticed that they little tubs on the back counter so I just had one of those with two times of ice cream. As I said the ice cream was lovely and creamy and they had some quite unusual flavours. I think I’d be tempted to sit in the café section if I went back and see what the service is like there.

I’m here to break open this case and tell you about«Wale’s best kept secret» one of eleven branches, Cadwalader’s resides in the newly formed St. David’s 2 Eastside. It’s in a bit of a weird position behind the escalators and can easily be missed as you walk past. However, do so at your loss. I could talk about their coffee’s, tea’s Savoury menu with the likes of bruschetta and loaded skins gracing it. But what I go there for is the ice cream. That is ice cream in scones, ice cream on waffles or more traditionally with fruit and sauces. I’ve tried the Ice cream and scones, never thought of it before but it’s a genius idea! With a bit of jam it tastes delicious and worthy of it’s price and your visit.
