This is actually a real bakery. There’s not many left. You can buy perfectly good, in fact very good, bread in the coop next door but it’s worth a visit into Bruton’s. Buy the ‘Low gI’ bread. I know, it sounds healthy and virtuous. Well it is healthy and virtuous, but frankly it’s my totally favourite loaf. Sort of wholemealy but with seeds and yummy bits. Lovely fresh or toasted and makes super-​great sustaining sandwiches. And strangely it keeps for ages without going at all stale. Anyway, the bakery, it has other things as well, cakes, pastries, and lots of other bread too.
