Ann Summers

I am a party organizer for Ann Summers and have been canvassing in the store. The staff are amazingly friendly and made me feel right at home. The layout of the store is fantastic as were the play wear offers. I always buy from this store as its so good and the ladies wait on me hand and foot when im trying to pick something to buy.

This review has been quite a while coming. I’ve watched it approach from far away, first looming up on the horizon and sweeping ever closer until it swallowed my entire mind with one terrible thought.
«People will think I’m sexual deviant!»
That single though is simultaneously the best defence Ann Summers has against the chortling masses and also its biggest cross to bear; whilst the fact that Ann Summers is a «naughty shop» prevents the yowling luddites of the world from entering and pointing at the merchandise whilst going «hurr hurr hurr duh durrrr» in their mongoloid tones, it also stops some well meaning customers from entering purely due to the «perv factor». Any man entering Ann Summers instantly becomes one of «those guys» in the eyes of the viewing public.
Thankfully, Ann Summers has recognised this and the staff seem to be trained well enough to pick out the legitimate male customers from the knuckle draggers (hint: it’s the awkward look on my face and the girlfriend forcibly dragging me along to «CHECK THIS OUT!»). There’s still a stigma attached to this store, but thankfully the brand has gone a long way towards defetishising sexuality.

I actually had to come in here to get some bits for an initiation party as my hockey playing friend was to shy to go in here. I really hate her for that. Anyways after picking up mentioned dodgy looking initiation/​hen party type gear I embarrassingly walked to the tills.
Luckily for me then that the staff here had a sense of humour and ribbed me for a good couple of minutes then, it was quite refreshing and wished more shops didn’t take themselves as seriously and just talk to people like the humans we are, not the pound signs the manager’s see. I won’t be visiting again anytime though, just going steal the staff and put them in HMV.

I undoubtedly get embarrassed when I go into Ann Summers thinking what all the other shoppers think I’m up to, but after having that thought and getting into a shop then I’m generally quite satisfied with Ann Summers.
The underwear is actually good quality, unusual and not all as provocative as you might think. They do of course also have a large section of other adult toys and costumes ranging in price. Its all well set out towards the back of the shop with bit and pieces on display too.
I have to agree the staff are really good, they certainly aren’t judgmental or prudish and they are really helpful and fun.

Sometimes I can feel that Ann Summers is a little bit overpriced. After all, there’s often not a lot of fabric involved in the garments on sale. However, what I am actually reviewing it all the other stuff — no, not those really dodgy things. I mean the little joke presents that you can buy for each other, like the biscuits in the shapes of rude bits. I think that this is where Ann Summers does really well because it’s keeping everything light hearted in a shop that could otherwise look a little seedy. The mannequins kind of freak me out — they look like they want to hurt me — and cheapen some of the displays. However, the staff really are lovely — more than happy to giggle along with you at some of the sillier items in store.

The bigger and better Ann Summers in Cardiff is a real improvement on the old one, which was a bit small and pokey (no pun intended!). Great for a bit of fun shopping with a partner or a couple of friends. I think that its a bit overpriced but some of the lingerie is gorgeous. Nice for a bit of naughty fun!
