The Venue

LOVE IT.
This just sums up my student experience, in a nutshell. Cheap drinks, a stones throw from my door most of the time, stupid costumes to match whatever insane theme they’ve got on (seriously, everything from neon banana night to Alice in Clubland) and even a few famous acts like Tinchy Stryder and the Disclosure DJ.
It’s two floors — used to be three but the top floor is now a media centre — playing mostly chart music but every now and then they have drum and bass nights, 90s, 80s, whateverelseies nights and it always ends with Mr Brightside, like any decent night should.
The bouncers can get a bit anal when dealing with the queue outside and the occasional innocent drunk person inside, I think the power goes to their heads a tad, but they’re pretty decent when you really need them.
The queues for the bar are crazy, so be prepared to queue and queue and queue. We used to give orders to one person for the whole group to combat that but it’s expected in any busy club with drinks prices as low as this. I mean, an Apple Sourz shot for £1! Nuts!
It has a student only policy so you’ll only be able to get in if you’re a student, either at Kent or elsewhere, so it’s really only for a certain group of people, but after a certain age, the novelty wears off and you’ll want a Koko in your life. In the meantime, it’s PARADISE.

A decent nightclub that plays good music and serve cheapish drinks.
The big downside, and why I’m docking starts, however is that the bouncers are by far the worst I’ve ever seen anywhere in the world, they will often punch first ask questions later, I once saw four of them start punching one student because he was sitting on the pavement 10 yards away and when asked to go home he politely replied that he was going to need a few minutes before he could walk as he was feeling unwell. If we hadn’t of restrained the bouncers he definitely who have received permanent damage to his face.

Always had a good night here, but I’m afraid it’s easier getting in the West Bank than getting past these bouncers. they’re a bit anal.

It’s good but often way too packed to even get to the bar to get a drink. Once I was queueing for over 20 minutes to get a drink, gave up in the end. You can get in for free if you go before 9pm to The Lighthouse bar above the night club. Drinks are all £2 and you can get most things but not wine in the night club! Rubbish! So you’re stuck with cider, beer, vodka, snakebites, etc. Normal studenty things. The music is good and varies from evening to evening — Fridays are indie night, Saturdays pop etc. Something to suit everyone.

This is a must do for all students of the University of Kent and is open to all students from across the country. The place has a great student atmosphere with plenty of cheap drinks available, and plays a good mix of music across the week from commercial cheese to Indie rock.

Student nightclub on the university of Kent campus. This was my uni so I may be a bit biased but it’s great for a student club. 3 floors that often play different music so there’s something for everyone. They tend to have specific nights for certain types of music or events to dress up for. The drinks are pretty cheap too, especially compared to some of the bars in town.
