The food is OK — as a vegetarian there aren’t many options. The service is usually bordering on terrible and the lovely beers overpriced.

CHECK YOUR BILL. They over charge me for drinks I didn’t have. The staff demand for tips. I left £2 she was rude and angry. She said I have to give at least 10% £4.60. I was disappointed by her attitude it looked like they are begging for money. It made the Café Belge look very cheap and like a begging station

Really nice restaurant — a bit off the regular run of shops but can park at the Westgate car park or at metres on the roads nearby. Food brilliant. Staff really friendly and helpful. Two levels of seating so quite a bit of space. Fun but serious atmosphere!

The mussels are the reason to eat at Café Belge as they cook them in numerous ways– although some are very gimmicky. A classic moules marinieres went down very well, with the requisite chips. Décor very bright with pictures of Tin-​tin adorning the walls.
They also offer special fish dishes but these are not priced and so their high cost was not revealed until the bill arrived.
Lots of choice of beer, for those so inclined.
Service was adequate.

I am on the fence with this one. i LOVE mussels and without the want of going all the way to whitstable where i then have to have to pay double for them here is the perfect place. My boyfriend loves beer. It suits us both. But as also mentioned in other reviews. the owneran abolutewell i can’t say. Its a shame, this place is a magnificent idea for canterbury. Lets face itits all italian. Dont get me wrong love Italian but it can sometimes get a bit boring time after time.
It is a shame that the team of staff will obviously follow suit of the owner. Again no welcoming smiles or any want of helping you.

This place was amazing. They have 50 different ways to eat a mussel. My boyfriend chose the Seafood Special which was a massive bowl full of mussels, king prawns, scallops etc. The mussels were really good and the fishcakes I had for main were really good if a bit rich — we had no room for pudding. There is a large selection of beers and the prices were very reasonable. I will definitely go here again.
