I had the harrira soup, an order of kebbeh, and an olive appetizer. All well done and I really liked the soup. Three others in my group also went there and were well pleased by the food and the service for dinner. Two others were pleased by the lunch buffet(9 pounds).

I went here last week with my family and friends. Service was excellent. We had the table at the front and they checked on us constantly. We had cocktsils, wine, starters and mains and the price was very reasonable. Definitely recommend this place.

Been here once, and Would definitely go again! the waitress was friendly and attentive, some staff struggle with english, the starters were gorgeous and the main was delicious. however the portion sizes were huge(not complaining) but i only managed just about half of my meal! cant wait to go back! love the atmosphere, the staff and the food.

Gorgeous food, great atmosphere, esp. when they have the belly dancer on. Good value too, would recommend for parties and groups.

The food is tasty, if fairly standard but the brilliant and friendly staff make up for it — the owner in particular is just lovely and attentive.(although last time we went the two waitresses ignored us for nearly an hour, engrossed in discussing their evening plans) I really love the décor of the place and the Sunday buffet is great value for money.

Ate here last weekend with my family and had a slightly disappointing meal. The waitress was really friendly as was the manager(owner?) but the food was a touch bland or had some questionable ingredients. The meze starters were excellent with people familiar with middle-eastern cuisine recognising Moroccan versions of Tzatziki as well as classics like Hummus and Baba Ganoush. So far so good. For main course, my ‘Seafood Tagine’ was tasty in that it was well-seasoned but the main ‘seafood’ was cut up strips of ‘crabstick’ which are a pretty dubious ingredient in my opinion. The only other seafood was some tiny shrimp but at least they had been alive and swimming in the sea! The others around the table felt their fish dishes were a bit bland as we are all fans of spice and were hoping for a stronger harissa kick to the meal. On the positive side– the bottle of Moroccan wine that we ordered was surprising full of flavour and has made me curious to find out what else Moroccan wine has to offer. We should, perhaps, have ordered more typical dishes such as the lamb tagine to really get a full picture of how good this restaurant is. It’s certainly not overly expensive and the service is friendly but perhaps we ordered badly– especially given the other reviews this restaurant has had.

We have been to Azouma a few times, we first stumbled across it on a Sunday and were drawn in by the price of the buffet and we always enjoy Moroccan food. We had a great meal and the staff were great and very friendly. They had great fun keeping our little daughter amused. We have been back for two family birthdays and have had a great time each time. The food is great, as well as the surroundings and the staff.

Azouma, is a little bit of Morocco just outside the city walls of Canterbury, and in a lovely old building. The place is kitted out in exotic, Moroccan style with embroidered cushions, and dark wood bench seats. We had a lovely all you can eat lunch time buffet, with a myriad of starters, fallafel, humous, yoghurt and mint, lamb meat balls. Then the main courses are predominantly chicken and lamb stews, with chick peas, aubergines, onions, spices and also a fair amount of choice for the non-meat eater, including cous-cous and rice. The staff are unobtrusive, and this is a great place for groups as it is informal.

This is Canterbury’s best hidden gem. Taken here on my last day living in the city, it was the best restaurant I’d been to there, and I’ve been back to Canterbury several times just for the food. If you’re vegetarian, it will have a great selection, from the houmous to the wonderful couscous and lightly spiced roast vegetables, so very succulent and soft. If not, the lamb and chicken dishes are, I hear, fantastic. If you go during the day, I recommend the buffet — all you can eat for a very reasonable £7.95, with at least ten dishes available — all of them great. The staff are brilliant, and the entire place is decorated like something from the Arabian Nights — on Thursday evenings they even have a belly dancer! All I can say is, give this place a chance — you won’t regret it!
