The Gandhi Cuisine

I was with a somewhat hard-​to-​please group (vegetarians, South Indians, kids), but we were all pretty delighted. Fluffy Naan, crispy onion bhajis, tasty daal and vegetables – mmm! And helpful, patient service – the waiter even called two taxis for our group! A pleasant surprise. I’d be pleased to go there again.

We always seem to end up here with the Cambridge University Brass Band events at the end of one of the nights. It’s like tradition. Concert, pubs, curry. I think the students like to come here because of the £10 deal. I think it includes a poppadom, rice, naan, and a main. And maybe a drink. It’s a deal.
Unfortunately the food is pretty terrible. I’ve eaten here twice and both times the curry was pretty mediocre. I think they feel they can get away with a lot because we’re dining with the students. They don’t know they’re dealing with a Unilocaler! I just wish they’d put more effort into the flavor. It’s pretty bland curry. They can do it hotter, but it still doesn’t really improve the flavor, just makes your mouth burn. The chutneys with the poppadoms seem like they’re out of a jar. The rice portion is stupidly small. The keema naan had barely any lamb mince in it.
I’ll probably come back because I have to when we’re out with the brass band folks. I just wish they’d decide on a better curry house.

This is a very fine restaurant that serves India dishes. The rich dark red colour of the carpet and the gold coloured banister adds charm to this restaurant.
You are unlikely to go back to a restaurant when you have had a bad experience even if the dishes taste great. This is not the case with this restaurant, the food is nice and the service is excellent. They have the most courteous and friendly staff you will ever come across, this has given the restaurant a good name over recent years. They have an extensive list of vegetarian option and the wine menu is impressive, but it will do with some more stock.
Great tasting food with a brilliant service, that’s a bonus.
