An excellent student-run theatre, the quality of shows put on is exceptional. A variety of musicals, plays, dance and comedy make a jam-packed line up each term. Cabaret bar nights are also well worth attending. The effort put into the productions is impressive — and don’t forget that the likes of Steven Fry and John Cleese trod the boards of this theatre many years ago, before moving on to stardom. The tickets are very reasonably priced as well — much cheaper than a professional theatre, and often just as good quality. What’s more, the atmosphere of the theatre is always electric, with friends and family support the casts each night there is always a buzz when the curtain goes up, and ruptures of applause when it falls on the final scene. Well worth catching are the ‘Smokers’ each Tuesday, where budding young comics stand up and take the mike, for a late night comedy show. A few glasses of wine beforehand help the laughter flow! With a cheap bar and high quality shows, the ADC can provide an excellent and memorable night out. Well worth a visit.

Although student-run, the quality of shows at the ADC is surprisingly professional, with something new every week during term time, from traditional plays to great comedy acts, with the ever-popular late show that can be fitted in after dinner with friends. The bar is a great place to hang out, always vibrant, and with very reasonable prices. In addition it’s v easy to look up shows and book tickets on the excellent website.
