Twice I tried to eat in this restaurant. Twice I was greeted by surly and unwelcome staff. there will not be a third time. Friends who have eaten here tell me the food is average and the service was poor.

On a Thursday, the Blue Check restaurant is the most glamourous night out in Bushey thanks to Dave the Sinatra impersonator who has been performing every week there for years. It is, admittedly, more than a bit cheesy; there’s just Dave crooning away in a tux in front of a kareoke machine, but it’s good fun. They do a decent three course meal including a dessert trolly that gets rolled around as you finish your meal. I love a good dessert trolley. They make me feel as if I’m on a tour of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. We’ve been three times over the last couple of years and the proprietor has always stopped by to talk to us and been charming yet unintrusive. The cost is pretty reasonable. No cover charge for Dave and the three course set menu is £20. Every second Friday features another Kareoke-backed singer, the lovely Gemma Samuels who is also great cheesy fun and arguably a bit sexier than Dave.

Good food and service caters more for groups. Strange but towards the end of the evening a guy turns up with a mobile disco. I did actualy dance a slow one. must have been the wine. Very relaxed.
