Ruby’s Sandwich Diner sounds like some glamourous and fabulous 1950s Americana roller diner. Yeah it’s really not. It’s predominantly white, which isn’t the most welcoming of colours for a diner, but it’s clean, nothing shows up the dirt like white décor now does it! Nope! Located up one of the arms of the Mill Gate, Ruby’s gets good foot traffic from those weary warriors in need of a little bit of replenishment, hot beverage, frothy milkshake, and maybe a toasted sarnie. The staff, sometimes a little bit older than the average waitress your used to, have that funny combination of being extremely kind faced and abrupt. Like an old aunt you can’t take offence to. Ruby’s seems to have been here for ages now, and I hope it doesn’t go anywhere anytime soon, throughout all the shake ups of the Mill Gate, Ruby’s has stood proud.
