M and S were founded in 1884 and stands for Marks and Spencer, I know many people who call it this, but it isn’t the case as it was named after their founders Sir Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer, that’s enough history for one day. let’s get back to the store… It was the 1900s… Okay. I’ll stop now, This store is reasonably large and is in The Rock Shopping Centre, set over 2 floors with a café, food hall and clothing section but still, it lacks a good gluten free section, which larger stores should have. The Food Hall is relatively small compared to Manchester for example and although it does have a good selection of standard food, compared to Marks and Spencer standard and what they stock here, it is no where near impressive, as titled in my past review over a year ago. It is often a struggle to even get a GF sandwich here, which seems like something I rarely see, in both the food hall and the café, with it being only stocked once in my past 2 visits, and that was only a selection of 2 flavours, and only in a café, where it is more expensive!!! Compare that to Manchester with all the flavours in the café and then a good selection in store. The food hall isn’t the nicest of layouts, and is the typical food hall layout really, excluding Manchester hence is similar to the store in Handsforth Dean. This M and S store has gone from being my Sergio Aguero to my Richard Wright, still can be a useful thing to have, but nothing up to the fantastic standard it used to be. This store needs to be better for gluten free, as Marks and Spencer branches(well some) do. or at least have a good range, so until I see a dramatic improvement, I can only give 2 stars. The only reason it isn’t one is that the café is quite a nice one, with good staff and very nice views of Bury.
