Tucked away down a sidestreet in Beck Row, is the Rose & Crown Pub. I had heard of this place over the radio a time or two so a recent celebratory moment had my husband and I trying it out. We were pleasantly surprised. To start off, the carpark was roomy and easily accessible. We took a look around the garden and discovered a nice play area for children, making this a lovely family area. Once inside, the décor was warm and friendly… the bar being off to the right and the lounge to the left. It was a quiet day when we went but karaōke hadn’t kicked off yet. The menu was small but varied enough to please just about any tastes and there were several curry specials available. We started off with a sharing combo. Oh my goodness, when the platter arrived at our table, I could only think«how are we going to eat all of this?». the combo consisted of tasty, crispy chicken strips, filled potato skins, deep fried mushrooms, onion rings, yummy potato wedges, baguette slices and a couple of dipping sauces. One of our sons went along with us and even with 3, there was enough for at least 2 others. My husband ordered the Chicken Korma with naan bread for his main dish. I chose the lasagna with garlic bread and our son stuck with a cheeseburger with bacon and cheese, which came with chips and cole slaw. Needless to say, we were well fed and the food was very good… and we were impressed. The Rose & Crown certainly merits another visit, though I think my husband is hoping to catch karaōke next time… THAT should be interesting!
