This is a pizzeria trying to be more upmarket with limited success the food is simple and cooked and presented well. Price is a little high for food and drinks are expensive. I would score four star if it wasn’t for the overpricing.

Me and my partner wanted a lovely romantic meal. We were recommended La Vela by our B&B Walton House along Berrow Road. We booked a table about half an hour before turning up. Upon arrival, we were seated in a lovely corner of the restaurant facing the street. The waiter(who I assume was also the proprietor) was fantastic. He was very attentive to our needs and brought our drinks over including some tap water(which not many places do these days) and there was some ice and a slice of lemon in them which was a nice touch. I ordered the lasagne which was probably the best lasagne I have ever tasted. My partner commented on her selection which I can’t remember the name of but it looked and tasted fantastic. The portions were just right and the dessert wine was exquisite. This is truly an Italian restaurant run by people who truly believe in making excellent food and providing first class customer service probably explains why I gave them a nice tip. Thoroughly recommended without hesitation. When we come down to Burnham to see the relatives, we’ll definitely be popping in for pizza this time!

We have been to this restaurant a number of times over the last few months and have always received a very warm welcome. The atmosphere is lively just like a good Italian place should be. We are working our way through the menu & still havn’t found anything we don’t like. Good food, good sized portions, nice choice of wine & draft Peroni. The meatballs & tiramisu are a must ! This is our first choice when choosing to dine out.

A vast improvement! I have often eaten at this restaurant and found it quite satisfactory, although they sometimes got my take-away menu wrong, so since the recent refurbishment, I thought I would give it another try with an eat-in meal. I must say I was quite impressed. The pizzas do not resemble the Asda products in any shape or form and I found mine excellent. My wife also enjoyed her spaghetti bolognese. With new staff, the service was also much improved — attentive and fast. My only gripe is that the Parmesan cheese was the powdered stuff you get in a tub. They should really offer you freshly grated cheese at your table. However, I am still going to award them 5 stars and I will be returning.

I have had pizzas from the frozen section of Asda that have tasted better. Ordered a Four Seasons pizza for a rather steep £10(Hello, this isn’t Pizza Express, Ha). What was supposed to be parma ham(yum) appeared to be nothing more than cubed reformed ham, similar to the rubbish you get on cheap, dirty pizzas from a kebab house. Really… how can you even dare to pass that off as parma ham?! The service was terrible, too. The waiters seemed to avoid eye contact so they wouldn’t have to serve us — it was almost as if they couldn’t face us because they were ashamed of over charging us for a cardboard excuse for a pizza. The only good thing was that it was in close walking distance from the pub where I went to drown my sorrows after putting my stomach through such torture.

Would NEVER eat here again! Whilst the service was prompt and friendly. The food was very disappointing. They don’t even use fresh mozarella on their pizzas, but some kind of pre-made, grated, mozarella cheddar blend and they load the pizza with cheese. So much in fact the cheese wasn’t melted underneath. When I complained I was told«well this is how our customers like it» and no steps were taken to rectify the problem. If I’d had wanted American style pizza, I would have gone to bloody Pizza Hut! When the bill came there was a bit of a stand off because I refused to pay for the pizza. Eventually I gave in because my children were getting un-easy. So I paid but explained that I would never come back here again. The reply was«fine, don’t come back!» So take my advice… AVOIDAVOIDAVOID!!!

We have visited La Vela in the past and find it a little on the pricey side especially for the drinks. I would also agree that the Vege selections are few and far between and what is available has far too much cheese, even when I requested less when placing my order. If I had a choice between here and Bonomo’s I would choose the later as the Vege selection is far superior. Thorneywitch

Nice restaurant. It had a very authentic image and feel to the place(shame about the ugly view of Somerfield), but i did find that they didn’t really cater for vegetarians. They had 2 pizzas and very few pasta dishes that were suitable(if any). I would have expected at least a veggie lasagne or something simple like that. The pizzas weren’t that bad though

This is a nice restaurant selling stonebaked pizzas, pasta and risotto. It has a large pizza oven where you can watch them cooking the pizzas. The pizzas are large and plenty enough for one person to eat, they also do calazone folded pizzas which are massive and very tasty. The staff are friendly, we go there maybe once a month and they always remember what we like to eat. They are family friendly too and provide a high chair for babies.

La Vela is a good Italian Restaurant located near Burnham Sea-Front. The décor is attractive and the food is good especially the Pizzas. As well as Pizza they serve pasta and other Italian dishes. I do find their food very filling and sometimes the pizzas have too much cheese.
