I stopped in at this Costa on my way in to work for an early start. I’d already had my usual brew before leaving for the office, but on this particular morning having had to brave the cold earlier than usual and also de-ice my car, something to warm me up and wake me up was definitely in order. I went in with the intent to order my usual from Costa: an espresso macchiato with a shot of caramel syrup; however, when I got to the point of placing my order I instead asked for a medium chai latte. Now, I have no idea why my under-caffeinated brain decided to ask for a drink which I suspect has never seen caffeine and is probably just chai flavouring in steamed milk, but oh well. As it happens I like chai lattes anyway, except when they’re bad(read: milk and nowt else). I’ve never had a chai latte from a Costa before, but this one was actually pretty decent. Not too milky, with a heady hit from the chai spices and(generously) topped with cinnamon. The medium cup size is also large enough that you get a decent drink, and it’s just about hand sized(for me, anyway). The lady behind the counter was friendly and, unlike some other Costa’s I’ve been to, really quick with taking drinks orders and getting them out to waiting customers. As far as negatives go, the only slight downside to this Costa is that it’s not overly big but for a concession in a Tesco it’s not half bad. If you fancy a cheeky espresso to get you through your shopping, this Costa will set you right.
