Indian restaurants are one of those institutions that are a bit hit and miss a lot of the time. The Viceroy is one of the better ones. Located in Buntingford which doesn’t have a huge number of eateries, it has been around for years with the same team of staff always there. If anything they seem overstaffed half the time but of course this is a huge benefit to any customer as service is efficient and they actually seem to have time for everyone. The décor is a strange mix of dated 70’s colours, back lighted pictures and dimmed rooms but works to add to the feel. The menu is huge as in most Indians and although I’ve not ordered all the dishes (yet) I have had quite a few and all were tasty and about average price for each dish. They often give you a free drink if you have ordered takeaway and pop in to collect it without it being ready and of course the serve Cobra beer which you can never go wrong with.

The Viceroy is the best Indian restaurant in the whole of Hertfordshire. My girlfriend lives 5 minutes away and we are in there nearly every weekend. The staff are great, friendly and very happy. They do the best curry and you can even have a take away as well. The price is good and the drink menu is good to. For 2 of us it normally comes to about £35 ish, and for the amount you get for that it’s amazing.
