Sitting right by the canal and just around the corner from Beermageddon (Our hot bed of Metal and booze for the weekend) is The Boat and Railway Inn, a really nice country style pub with a good choice of ales and a nice line in grub.
Myself, Mrs Z and 2 of our festival Buds decided to give it a go on the saturday before the bands started at the fest, and we were very glad we did!
I had a really lovely double chicken burger (2 big chunks of batted fillet and salad) and a pint of I forget (It was made by Ringwood brewery anyway) to wash it down with.
Mrs Z opted for the fish, chips and mushy peas, and a pint of Forty Niner (Also by Ringwood).
And our friends both had the steak and ale pie with chips (Which I have to say looked really nice!).
All in all it was a really nice meal in really nice surroundings, and it’d be my pub of choice if I lived in the area…
