Of the many hairdressers that sound like makes of shampoo this has to be one for sure. In fact, is there shampoo called Toni and Marco?
Tucked away in a nice part of town on the corner of Baldwin and Stephen streets sits this old-​school gent’s barber. A bit smaller than some of the others in town but no less charming. Toni and Marco are two Italian gentlemen who, well, style hair. It’s a standard price for most styles of about ten pounds give or take a bit. They also offer a very fine wet shave and some of the best John Cleese-​esque dry humour I’ve encountered since leaving boarding school!

Can’t tell you if it was Toni or Marco I had the pleasure of cutting my hair. Either way, they did a decent job with a minimum of fuss and bother. It’s in the city centre so perfectly placed if you’re having a last minute panic about your appearance before a job interview. They’re pretty quick too, and there wasn’t any queue when I went along (in fact it never looks terribly busy here), so definitely somewhere you can just drop by.
The prices aren’t too bad, especially considering the central location. An easygoing blokeish atmosphere, without any of the air headed questions you sometimes get at hairdressers. Come here to smarten up without any stress or spending more than you need to.

Half way up Baldwin street, Toni and Marco a good quality barbers, offering student discounts and cuts starting from £6. I find this stretch a bit of a time warp — there’s three shops in a row that have a slightly rustic feel (the italian, this barbers, and the tobacconist next door), which would probably have gone out of business a long time ago if they were situated anywhere else in town. Toni’s a pretty nice guy, and will give you a good cut, and interesting (rare for a hairdressers) chat whilst he’s giving you a trim. It’s a pretty straight up barbers shop, with no frills or pretentions, just make yourself look smart and get on your way. Decent shop with decent prices.
