This«Destination» pub is one of North Somerset’s best kept secrets. It’s hidden away from the main road so you wouldn’t know it was there if it wasn’t for loose-lips! In my opinion the less people that know about it the better, otherwise I won’t be able to get a table! — Perhaps I should rate it One Star and keep it to myself! I’ve had evening meals here and Sunday roast, and they’ve both been really good. The décor is clean and classy and the ambience is good, but that’s probably what you’d expect from a chain such as Vintage Inns. It’s «Order at the bar» so there isn’t much in the way of service, but they do look after you when they bring the meals out. I’d take my family here for a nice Sunday Lunch, you won’t go far wrong choosing The Priory if you’ve got visitors from out-of-town and want to take them somewhere nice. It would also serve as a good venue for a quiet date night.

The Priory is part of the vintage inn chain of pubs and if you haven’t tried one then I recommend. This one is set off the beaten track and has both front and back gardens. It went through a big refurb a few years back and the interior is homely and comfy. The food is generally of a good standard, however I have had the odd disappointing dish. My recommendation is to go for the specials as they are always good! It’s not the cheapest but that is normally reflected in the quality. The service can also be a little slow during busy periods.

This place is pretty hidden and if you don’t know its there, you certainly won’t be driving past it by accident as you would come to a dead end! So for those of us who do know about it will know that it has a great reputation and is always busy and there is no mistaking why. The food is LOVELY and they have a huge seating area out the back and some seats out the front for those nice summer days and evenings. The inside is just as nice and has a really lovely rustic feel to it. If you want a lovely pub thats a bit out of the way, this is the place to go.

It may be a chain pub, but it does great food, at good prices, with fast service. It’s child friendly, it’s not a drinking pub, it’s an eating pub. Food for two adults and a toddler will cost about £30 and you will be full and happy.

The Priory in Portbury does not have much of an atmosphere. Its actually a chain pub and has some really trite sayings chalked up in black and white above the bar. However, its a really pleasant place to go for an after work drink. Its quiet, bar staff are friendly and the wines are generally good and quite cheap. In the summer, they’ve got a lovely beer garden with lots of picnic tables and parasols for those who need a shelfter from the sun! I’ve only eaten there a few times, but each time the food has been really nice and hasn’t taken too long to arrive.
