The Lamb & Flag – Harvester

This place for me is great. Cheap meals but the food is nice. Fizzy drinks are unlimited which is good for sugar cravers like myself who love a glass of cola.
The service is ok really does vary.
Parking is available on sight.
A great place for children to eat with a good children’s menu.
My favourite touch has to be the salad cart. All you can eat salad is great, just make sure you don’t go over the top on pasta and rolls before your main comes out !
The spit roast chicken is a must if you visit this place.
Overall a great place to visit for cheaply priced food that for me still has great tasting dishes.

I’m a real fan of the harvester, it’s reasonably priced and the food is always good.
They have just updated their menu to add quite a lot more food.
We both had their meal deal which was an unlimited refill drink, unlimited salad cart, a selection of main courses and an ice cream sundae all for £9.99 which I think is really good value for money. I ordered a ½ spit roast chicken with chips and coleslaw. There was so much meat on the chicken that I couldn’t finish it and the chips were really well seasoned.
Unfortunately the staff were pretty rude but I didn’t let them bother me.
It’s a great place if you want a cheap, tasty meal.

I really enjoy harvester food, can’t beat the harvester fried chicken on the ‘early bird all day’ menu. Although I think the pub/​restaurant itself is too small to cope with the amount of footfall there is there. Although the staff are friendly and the service is really great, I think the experience lacks the personal commitment from the staff I.e. they are too rushed off their feet to give you the attention needed. The food on this particular occasion was dry and over cooked. I ordered a side of garlic bread, the waitress then informed me that they had burnt it and she is putting more on… So I think the organisation could do with tweaking. Currently (especially when its busy) it feels like a cattle market, they are just shoving/​guiding us through the process as quickly as possible. I don’t blame the staff, but the company needs to invest some money to either expand the building or increase the staff, they must make enough money for that. Other than all that I keep going back only because, when they get it right its really good. So until they are consistent, it’ll have to stay a 3 star review…

I really like the Harvester restaurants, the food is good and value for money. This is a big restaurant set on several levels and can get very busy, we have waited 45 minutes for a table before.
The service is generally very good but can vary depending on which server you get, there is one who is a bit slow. On our last visit we had a lovely meal and good service. The food is reasonably priced and the unlimited top ups on soft drinks is great, also we love the salad bar, which is included in the price.

I eat here on Christmas Day. It was packed!
We didnt need to order as we had already done that when we booked. However, the starter was meant to have 3 Camembert but there was only 2. No explanation for that. The main would have been great if there was enough gravy, but no complaints on the duck. It was lovely and went well with the gravy I did have. The veg was horrible though.
Dessert was nice however the waiter had seemed like he lost interest & had to ask us what we had ordered.
Also, the heating was to high & when paying for our drinks they kept the change without us saying they could.
Its not the best place to eat at any time of the year so I wouldnt recommend eating there at Christmas!

This was by far one of the worst resturants I have ever been in.
In the time I was there, I witnessed the staff being harrassed and bullied by managers who obviously dont have a clue.
I heard the most foul language coming from the chef on the open grill and was served by staff who looked fed up and just wanted not to be there.
All I wanted was a simple jacket potatoe and sausage and beans for my daughter, I sat by the grill which at first I thought was a bit of a novelty until I asked to be moved due to the chefs foul language.
Our food took over an hour, with no explanation or apology.
After complaining, I got offered a free meal for next time, however I feel there will not be a next time.

The usual good harvester food (my rare steak was great) was accompanied by some good service. Unfortunately it was very family friendly! Too many screaming kids on our visit to be able to relax.

On the whole, not very good. On one occasion, they ran out of knives and forks, 2 of the party could eat, whilst 2 couldn’t! On a separate occaision, the member of staff didn’t order the 2 meals we asked for, just 1 but gave us 2 sets of knives and forks. Why did I go back!!!

I think they need to work on their definition of ‘vegetarian’ as my veggie burger had clearly been fried in beef fat and was totally inedible as was my son’s cold pasta and my husband’s meal. The salad bar was virtually empty as well so couldn’t fill up with that despite having paid for it. Service was extremely slow, rude and disinterested. We definitely won’t be going back.

The only place I’ve ever been where they served a mixed grill without the steak. the service was slow and surly, the food was sub par when it/​if it turned up. I wont be going again.

The service can be a bit slow, especially at busy times but the food is always good and you know exactly what your going to get. The unlimited salad also makes it good value especially before 6 when main meals are a third off.
