You know, this isn’t a bad place. It has cake(some of which is protected from flies) and it has a menu of coffee and a good menu for tea(not unlike its predecessor, Lahloo Pantry). It even has ample space to sit and reflect on life and its many complexities, which you could complement with afternoon tea for two. Plus, it’s around the corner from all the really busy places, so there’s no fighting with prams for foot space, nor old ladies for the last slice of carrot cake. Yet, there’s a reason I think it’s so quiet: there’s no atmosphere. It feels cold and devoid of human warmth, from the iPod playlist to the echo of metal chair on wooden floor. The lack of vibe somehow soaks into the food, which is actually OK, but might taste better if the environment made me feel happier. I would recommend this place to my friend Eeyore, but not Pooh Bear, and definitely not Tigger. Would we go back and sample something different? It would be fair to, and I think we will think about it, so that we can see it in a different light and adjust our rating accordingly. But do we really want to?
