Meh. I’ve certainly experienced better(couldn’t have put it more succinctly myself). Thanks to the recent formation of East Street’s Baguette Express, locals need no longer tolerate the overpriced, preservative-pumped baguettes on offer at this branch of Subway. I’ve only eaten here once, and that was enough. I opted for a Veggie Delight, which was marred by the stale salad that not even copious amounts of salad dressing could conceal. Furthermore, the eating area is the epitome of bland and the booths were littered with old bits of sandwich filling and bread crumbs. Ahem.

There used to be a time while at University that my friends and I would take a trip to Subway every 3 or 4 weeks. Now this might seem sad but the town of our Unversity didn’t have one! I know… it just wasn’t on! So from my trips, and our very meticulous, and sometimes critic like approach to the buying of our Sub’s I do consider myself s Subway coniseur. This Subway in Bedminster is particuarly good, there is a good seating section, and a nice big counter and space behind so you don’t feel crammed whilst placing your order. They are very friendly inside, and have often pointed me towards the discount coupons before I placed my order so that I didn’t miss out. Now I am not saying go every day, but come on, once every other week you’ve got to do it, slum it and visit a Subway, you’ll feel so wrong, but boy, will it taste so right!

East Street is possibly the ugliest looking street in Bristol, with the ugliest looking shops and the ugliest looking people walking up and down. Slapped, right bang in the middle of it all is this poor little Subway without a hope in the world. I don’t think it’s been there very long and I’d be surprised if it stayed there much longer as the people who live/work in or around East Street aren’t going to pay close to a fiver for a baguette and a packet of crisps. I myself am quite partial to a Subway now and again as I can see all of the fresh ingredients right there in front of me and I can simply tell somebody how I would like my baguette. What’s not to like? Well possibly the breads which all taste a bit fake as they’ve no doubt got some sort of special ingredient in them to make them last longer and also the prices can be a bit off putting.

I adore this place! Just walking past the smell of sandwich heaven just pulls you in and unwillingly whips out your purse. Shhh that’s the excuse I use anyway! This is one of the slightly more healthy junk food shops and I always grab a 6 Italian B.M.T when I have the pennies to spare. You can pick and choose from a good selection of fillings exactly to your taste to craft the perfect snack. They also will warm your sandwich if you ask too, which I recommend. Plenty of seating areas, and it has always looked clean and hygienic! The only thing I will say, is if you’re after something really really cheap, you may not want to come here unless you spy a good deal(sub of the day etc) but aside from that i’ve never experienced much queuing and it is the perfect semi-healthy snack option in between shopping!
