I only had the chance to visit this shop once before it sadly closed down for good. The old gentleman inside was very kind and friendly, and although we went in just to look around, I ended up spending over 15 pounds. The place was indeed small, and could have done with a refurb, still it’s a shame they shut it down, as animal charities are way underrepresented in Bristol, especially in the northern part. So I very much hope RSPCA will open a new charity shop with more space and a good design, and motivate people to donate to make the place thrive!

There’s a great deal of competition when it comes to charity shops on Gloucester Road. Sadly RSPCA’s shop half way along the road seems to be losing the fight. Charity shops are only as good as the donations they’re given, but the volunteers aren’t particularly welcoming here either. Not a great shopping experience, and one not to be repeated. I suggest that if this is a cause close to your heart that you’re better off donating some money online.

RSPCA(Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a charity which prevents cruelty to, promote kindness to and alleviates suffering of animals. One of the largest animal charities you would think their charity shops were a key part of their charity, but this is so neglected with a pitiful display of poor quality donations and the staff were rude. I guess there is a lot of competition on this road with several other charity shops for people to donate to, and this isn’t any of the dog’s private parts.

A small and not particularly well-stocked charity shop, that’s poor in relation to a lot of the other charity shops on the street. Like a homeless dog, you almost want to take pity on this charity shop because it clearly doesn’t get the support or the donations that the others do however, when it comes down to it, you don’t actually end up taking anything home. The things that they do stock are just a bit too optimistically priced and many items are unusual but not actually very nice. I once debated for some time about buying a large porcelain model of a horse & cart, which the shop were so proud of that they’d stuck it in the window. It was only four pounds fifty and it was so tasteless I found it funny, but eventually I checked myself and walked away empty-handed– as, probably, will you.
