Can’t necessarily review the pub itself as we only went there for the Cheese and Cider Festival on the bank holiday weekend. But that. that was awesome. There was cheese, there was cider, there were many doggies and it rained. But it’s a bank holiday in the UK. What do you expect. There were lots of ‘throwing’ things… throw the welly, throw the horseshoe(seems a bit dangerous, but eh.) We did venture in to the pub and it look beautiful in there; a cosy traditional pub that hosts a cider and cheese festival annually. Perfect.

We went here after an afternoon at Chew Valley Lake for a bite to eat. Quite an impressively varied menu, and between us(6 of us) we managed to sample a good range of food. The consensus seems to be that the cooked food is very good(I had one of their daily specials, the lamb shank), but the salads were a bit dry; perhaps the salad had been kept in an open container. The portions were good sizes. The service did leave something to be desired, having finished our main course, I had to go over to the other end of the bar to collect some of their little dessert menu blackboards as no-one asked us if we wanted dessert or came to clear the main course plates. The desserts were the better side of reasonable once they arrived. Having said all that the prices were very good, my special, the expensive one was £10.95, the others were about the £8.00 mark. For the prices I was impressed; yes I would go back there again.
