I fail to get excited about DIY and home improvements. but sometimes (and always on a Sunday) it’s just well, necessary. Proper Job is another of Bristol’s fine (relatively as they own 5 shops) independent hardware stores — this one in Brislington.
Proper Job is run by friendly father and son team Ray and Peter Tilley. In the impeccable layout of shelves, ridiculously comprehensive selection of paint, wallpapers, tape, tools and other such house holdy gubbins, there is real evidence of family pride in the business.
Not all that easily accessible from the city centre sans automobile, but it is a veritable superstore of DIY and so much more enjoyable and approachable than the out-​of-​town B&Qs or Homebases.
