This is one of the most popular Thekla clubnights, for which you can expect massive queues from about 10pm. Join the Facebook group and you can request free or cut price guest list places. Once inside you have three very different vibes. Downstairs is for the people who want to dance, kiss and disappear into the night. Upstairs inside is a good mix of sitting and chatting and dancing to some quality indie tunes courtesy of the excellent DJs. I was under the impression that it was two drinks for the price of one all night but this appears to chance every week depending on who serves you. Once I got 241 whisky and cokes all night, next time I went I paid about £4 for a pint of lager. So you may want to check before you go racking up a massive bar bill. On the downside, unless you are a very large bloke or an extremely pretty girl you may find yourself queuing for ages to get served. And for any older folk, be warned, the crowd is largely made up of young Skins wannabes, the kind of girls who idolise Pixie Lott and Kate Nash and the kind of metrosexual men who base their look on The Klaxons or Busted.

Pressure occurs every Thursday night on board the good ship Thekla. Billed as «Bristol’s best indie night!», you can expect a healthy dose of lightweight, alternative tunes and unnervingly tight jeans. Once inside, you’d be forgiven for thinking that there was some kind of competition going on for who can dress the most quirkily. With an in-house photographer taking pictures all night, the aim of the game is to make sure you’re tagged on Facebook at least once the following morning. It’s a little lame, in my opinion, but it gives the kids something to do — I guess. On the plus side it is 2 for 1 on all drinks, all night. However,(in my experience) you can expect to be wading through a sea of rude, 18yr old students to get to the bar. Bleurgh.
