Maze

Welcome to the Clifton fashion boutique Maze.
I visited here during the January sales hoping to find a bargain, more specifically I had tried a dress on in the French Connection in town which I really liked but needed a size 8. My heart did a little jump when I found that they did indeed have a size 8! But it fell right down to my feet when I saw they had it priced more more than double the FC sale price!
I asked the shop assistant if perhaps it hadn’t been marked down again yet but she informed me in a kind of ‘how-​many-​more-​times-​do-​I-​have-​to-​go-​through-​this’ kind of way that although they stocked FC lines, they do not have to mirror their prices. I was quite disappointed!
Generally speaking, the ladies things are very nice but very expensive. But then, that’s Clifton; in the changing room I overheard someone trying a dress on for her upcoming trip down the red carpet at the BRITS or BAFTAS or something like that!
I think the men’s section might be a bit better though.

I adore the clothes in here. Some are truly beautiful! The prices are pretty hefty but then you are in Clifton Village and you have to pay for such good quality. If I was rating Maze on the quality and range of clothes and the way they are presented I would award 5 stars but unfortunately I just can’t due to the service. They are very polite and friendly but they are all over you! Maybe this wouldn’t be a negative to some people but I just ended up leaving the shop last time I went in because it was driving me insane! I couldn’t pick anything up without the assistant asking if she could put it in the changing rooms for me. Very helpful, yes but it I was starting to feel pressurised. Maybe they were having a slow day but they couldn’t hide their desperation to get me to buy something which I found quite vulgar. I wish these stores would understand that the more you hassle someone the less likely they are to hang around in your shop.
