A Moroccan themed club located on the Clifton triangle. Although they could have put a little more effort in making the theme more loud as it’s almost invisible until and unless you read on the walls that the theme is Moroccan. It’s a part of the chain of clubs under the same name in different cities of the U.K. They don’t have any dress code, but wearing baseball styled Ts, might get you a refusal being labelled as too much sporty! The alcohol is a bit overpriced, I mean, some of them. Our favourite were The Thursdays, which was called the Seesha Mashup! You just pay a deposit of £20, and can have Seesha all night, basically for free! When you return the Seesha, you get your deposit back(obviously in an unbroken state). The alcohol is the cheapest on Thursdays, like £3 for a double! Lovely!!! Have never been on Fridays or Saturdays, so, can’t really say how it is on those days! The bar staff is friendly and just one shout away for the Sheesha refill. We used to be on the Guest List, so used to get a Jagger bomb complimentary as we entered! The DJ playing on Thursdays is the same guy who plays in one of the rooms in Ramshackle at the O2 Arena on Fridays! There he wears a mask, so you don’t get to see his face! Music is pretty good. Gets overcrowded after midnight! Fights are common, but effective Security always manages to kick out the trouble makers. It’s a shame that this Club is closing down. The last day it’s open is this Bank Holiday Sunday, the 24th of August, 2014. So, if you haven’t tried this place, just peep in to have a look, before it shuts down!

I spent few night in this club and I loved it. People are friendly and the music is really excellent! Old Rock’n Roll, new electro music: every one will enjoy this venue. Little tips: avoid students’ night, it’s definetly too busy.

An odd name for a rather odd club, this chain club-cum-bar is not without its charm. Located on the Clifton Triangle nestled between Papa Costa and Jack Wills, Po Na Na is just a doorway and easy to spot when there isn’t a queue at the door. Once down the stairs you enter something of an Aladdin’s cave, with gold walls, a long bar, dance floor and seating area towards the back of the club. I like the velvet curtains, the gold walls and the underground feeling and still enjoy this place now that my university days are over. With a valid NUS card you can usually knock a couple of quid of the entry fee but drinks are a different matter. No matter what I order it is normally expensive and the bar itself is often crowded and sticky, covered in spilt drinks and discarded straws. The cheesy dance tunes make up for it though and if you’re planning a night on the tills this place is worth a visit. If you’re planning a night out here you can reserve tables and get your name on the guest list by following links on the website.

This is a great venue on Queens Road in Clifton, opposite Sainsbury’s; Po Na Na can guarantee a good time. It is always lively, the dance floor has always been full whatever time I have arrived(probably because it isn’t huge) and there is a great atmosphere there. It looks good too; at the back of the dance floor are long sofa seats and tables decorated befitting that of a shisha bar — it would make the perfect location if smoking indoors was no longer prohibited! Behind the bar is a seating area where groups are able to reserve tables and booths, to get to this ‘VIP’ area you go through a curtain and this is great as it offers a quieter area to sit, talk or to recover in my case! But be warned, if you try and book yourself into the ‘VIP’ room, and believe you have a table waiting for you, they will then try and sell you a £70 bottle of vodka before you can sit at that table. They used to have a great student night on a Tuesday, obviously I’m too old and fat to go to that now. But it offered you the best music on the triangle by far(they always played The Beastie Boys). The bar staff are usually friendly enough and the DJ always responsive to requests. Drinks are not cheap, at all! Think £8 for a double whisky and coke. I literally almost cried and refused to let go of my money.

The best thing about this little club — and it really is little — is the fact that they have an outside shisha area. I’m not a smoker, but I find shisha really relaxing and sociable, and this ‘shisha garden’ is something a bit different to other standard night clubs. You go down some stairs to the entrance of this club which is underground — like others on the Triangle — and once your inside you are directly facing the bar to buy your first drink! They also offer a variety of different shots and cocktails which is pretty cool too. The dance floor is to your left, but is very small and on busy nights it gets way too crammed! The seating area around it however is cool with loads of funky pillows to chill out on. Po Na Na’s particularly caters to a younger audience, and is very popular with students — not the sort of place you’d go for quite drinks. However, it promises a bit of a different night out and I would recommend it!

I’m not going to lie to you, cheesy nightclubs aren’t really my bag. I’d much rather strut my stuff in a rock club or get involved with a mosh pit at a gig. However, as cheesy clubs go Po Na Na’s really isn’t too bad. You can tell a lot from a night club by the queue of people waiting to get in. For example, if you cross the road to some of the other clubs on the Triangle you will see the most scantily clad drunk girls and the most lairy shirt wearing thuggish guys hassling innocent people just trying to get past. The queue for Po Na Nas is a lot more respectful. A mix of students and some slightly older folk wanting to drink cheap jaegerbombs and dance to decent cheese, including Lady Ga Ga, Madonna and the Black Eyed Peas. The setting of the club is cool, it has that underground arches vibe and there’s some nice sofas to sit on once you’re in there. Definitely the best of a bad bunch of clubs on the Triangle.

I went to Po Na Na for the first time by accident when I could not find the motivation to stand in a queue for Joe Publics. A small group of us walked into a completely empty club and had one of the best nights I have had in Bristol. It is only very small but the people working there are really nice, even the bouncers which is a rarity. They also offer Shisha in the small smoking area out at the back of the club. I would also warn anyone against any aggressive jumping etc, a friend of mine gave himself concussion on the low roofs, but don’t let that put you off you will be sure to have a good time.

I’m sitting in the VIP area at the back of Po Na Na in Clifton. To my left are a few friends and to my right is a group of people I don’t know, one of whom is apparently the owner of the club. The guy sat next to me is explaining how he is a member of the secret service and telling me of various missions he’s been involved in over the years, whilst pouring me a glass of champagne. This is the situation I found myself in on my only ever visit to this club and, as such, I see it as a rather strange place. On this particular occasion, a couple of the female contingent of our group had managed to befriend the owner of the club at another bar in Clifton earlier in the night. He then seems to have invited us all back to his place for a party and shelled out for a load booze to keep us happy. None of us spent a penny that night — and neither of the girls had to erm… do the guy any«favours», either, as it turned out. So, if you happen to meet this guy on a night out, my advice is to keep him talking and see what happens. The rest of the club seems a fairly mediocre affair, but it’s not at all bad. Probably worth a visit, even if you’re not treated to free champagne all night.

Po Na Na’s is a small underground club near the Clifton Triangle. If you don’t know exactly where you are going, it you may just miss the place as the exterior is simply a door! Once the club is found, you go down some narrow stairs and you enter what looks like a Parisian boudoir with shisha pipes, incense burning and comfy sofas. Drink prices are expensive, however they do a lot of cheaper student nights on Mondays to Thursdays which are much more affordable. The cocktails, including the infamous ‘Bucket’(which will bring a smile/grimace for all those who have visited Thailand) are all very good. This probably isn’t a place you would spend your entire night in, but its definitely worth a trip en-route.

This is a Moroccan themed club, at least I think that’s the idea. In all honesty the Moroccan theme is so subtle I would even go as far as to say there isn’t one. If it actually had more of a theme going on it might actually make this place more interesting, because as at it stands at the moment it is a giant yawn of a club. There really isn’t much you can say about it. It’s just an average sized building with a bar, a dance floor and some music. The music itself is predominantly dance and therefore not that different or unique from half the nightclubs in Bristol. The drinks are quite pricey which I think is to scare off the riff raff as the clientele seems to be rich Uni students. If you fancy a trouble free night then this place is perfect, but don’t expect a lively atmosphere or any crazy shenanigans.

Po Na Na is a small Moroccan theme Bar /club on Park Street. I have not been for a while but I remember there was always a long queue to get into Po Na Na’s. In my opinion Po Na Na is ok but nothing special and on the few occasions I have come to Po Na Na i have been quite bored. The décor is nice, quite similar to the Fez, another Moroccan themed bar in Bristol. On nights I have been here the music has been funk or break beats and not very easy to dance to. The clientele are mostly rich-looking Bristol Uni students and I found the place quite poser-y with a lot of people trying to look good and dancing in a self-conscious way.
