Not so busy, excellent fish — so succulent and the batter is just crispy enough. Chips taste chippy not all fried to death and sticky nor soggy and shapeless — just right. Price is good.

Kingsdown Fish and Chips is your run of the mill fish and chips takeaway in Kingsdown, Bristol. It is situated in a good location as there aren’t many takeaways(apart from a Chinese up the road) nearby. The food is good and at a reasonable price. The portion sizes are big, therefore the large sizes may be best avoided as chips are not nice the morning after! I do however find that sometimes the chips are a little greasy for my liking, but then again, some people love that so its just personal preference. There is no seating in the takeaway, but you rarely have to wait long for your order unless of course its really big. Additionally they do a really large selection of cold drinks which I find is quite unusual for most takeaways. Furthermore, the takeaway is open for lunch on weekdays which is really handy.

At the end of the gorgeous Kingsdown Parade(a long terrace of beautiful Georgian houses) you’ll find Kingsdown Fish Bar. A traditional fish and chip shop, this is unfussy and does what it says on the tin. There’s the usual array on offer including my favourite, jumbo battered sausages. Crucially for a chippy, the chips are delicious. Expect fat, greasy fingers of potato and to have some trouble getting to the end of your bag. Only get a large portion if you’re absolutely starving. Also doing pies and pasties at the Kingsdown Fish Bar expect comfort food done well and without unnecessary flair.
