Despite the decidedly Anglophile moniker, Johns, somewhat confusingly, specialises in Thai and Asian cuisine. Although it doesn’t have the largest menu in the world, the lack of quantity is easily overridden by the quality. Particular favourites are the beef curry in red wine sauce and the monkfish in Thai green sauce. A very relaxed place, you’re free to enjoy a drink at the bar while you peruse the menu, and they also knock up a legendary roast on Sundays. If ever a restaurant suffered from schizophrenia, Johns may well be it!
