I was genuinely excited to discover a Homebase store — yes maybe my life really is that dull but stay with me, I’ll explain. We used to have a large Homebase near my home town when I was young and I thought it was amazing — it was the largest garden centre I had ever seen and, since my mother didn’t drive and nurseries tend to be off track, actually pretty much the only one! Being green fingered I was upset when that closed, and I thought the whole chain had shut down. But it turns out not so. They may have been beaten into submission by B&Q on the DIY front but they have found a little niche selling home décor fittings and fixtures and of course holding onto their substantial garden centres. Now whilst I would always advocate the nursery over the garden centre, this is OK. The plants are in good condition and there’s a fair amount of choice. The only thing is you are not sure how much mileage these plants do as they are not grown on site. In Bristol centre(ish) I would recommend Riverside Garden Centre first.
