I once had one of the most frustrating experiences of my life thanks to this shop. I had a job that I was highly reliant on my bike to get to. I bought a tyre here and spent three excruciating nights repeatedly trying to fit it to my bike. However, every time I finally forced it on, the inner tube broke. I had to keep persevering but didn’t want to return it to the shop as I thought the bloke might think I was a weirdo who couldn’t change a simple tyre.
Finally, after I had completely lost my rag and almost my sanity, I went back to the store prepared for humiliation… and they couldn’t have been nicer. The expert there confirmed that there is a phenomenon that they can’t prevent of some tyres being fractionally too small. He was very apologetic, replaced the tyre immediately and all my broken inner tubes, with a few spares chucked in, and also gave me a free pump which was worth more than the tyre I’d bought in the first place.
I was prepared for all out war but they went above and beyond my expectations even though it wasn’t their fault, in an age where buck passing is unfortunately all too common.
