Galliford Stores is the ultimate convenience store in this particular part of town. Frequented by many, the turn-over must be pretty tidy, regardless of the recession. Supplying all that you could feasibly need, the stock is crammed into this tripple fronted building, making it appear deceptively limited in range, but is much more comprehensive in reality… but you do need to scour the shelves thoroughly… or resort to asking for assistance. With a well used display of notices, you might end up getting more than you bargained for here… flats, cars, bikes, beds and jobs are all advertised in the window.

I really disagree with the reviewer called Seamon. I have lived near and in this area for 20 years and I have found Galliford an incredibly welcoming and well-run shop. It is a newsagent, convenience store and food shop rolled into one. It sells everything from basic convenience goods to an amazing selection of fresh fruit and veg, plus delicatessen items such as locally-made hummus. And it stays open until at least 10pm every night — a god-send.

«A huge convenience store in the heart of Montpelier. It does an amazing range of stuff Äì from beans to soya milk, from fruit and veg to beer to videos to newspapers. The staff are nice and there are always characters going in and out and chatting outside. Apparently they sell the most Guardian newspapers of any newsagent in Bristol! »
