Dwell seem to be everywhere now so they must be doing something right. I was really looking forward to the opening of this Bristol branch, having frequently used their on-line service in the past but I have been a little disappointed. When you look at the products subjectively, you realise some of it is nice, modern, clean, but much of it is garish and tacky. Indeed, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what I deem tacky might be right up someone else’s street but what had initially attracted me to Dwell(good quality, great designs and reasonable prices) has dissolved into a feeling of over priced mediocrity. In particular one table and chairs I brought looked great but after very little time was looking very tired and cheap. So no votes for build quality or cost effectiveness. Nice looking shop though.

Nice items in the window tempt you inside to try your bottom on. Then the sales assistant asks if you would like the full catalogue sending to you. Now we get another catalogue every 3 months! I’m not sure anyone could by that much furniture! The furniture itself is contemporary, many of the items look stylish but uncomfortable! Hugely overpriced for laminate wood and chrome. Not much difference in quality than Ikea, but 3 times the price!

Having just moved into a new flat I’ve become ever so slightly obsessed with anything to do with home furnishings. So when I was doing one of my weekly laps around Cabot Circus, I practically ran towards the attractive low level lights of Dwell. With sexy bachelor pad styles, dark woods and abundance of accessories it was just the place I was after. The price tag is probably reasonable for the materials they use, but it was well out of my price range(around £100 for a CD rack). It’s a lovely store to window shop in, well helpful staff at hand to answer your questions. I loved using it as inspiration for my flat, then making the journey to Ikea for a discounted rate.

With aspirations to be the next Habitat this actually isn’t doing too badly. Some nice soft furnishings and modern furniture at reasonable prices. There is nothing astonishingly original here, but it has clean lines and wouldn’t jar out of place in modern homes. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
