Beautiful side partner to the SS Great Britain museum, we went into the café before going for a tour. It was pretty busy when we entered loads of families and elderly people but seating wasn’t a issue which was nice. We didn’t have to wait long to be served, the staff were very efficient(one taking good orders and the other one doing the hot drinks). We ordered some toasties along with our coffees and went outside to sit in the sun. What i liked was the fact when our food was bought to us(waited about 10 mins which wasn’t bad for how busy it was). The staff didn’t need to shout our order they took notice where we headed after we ordered and the toasties were very yummy! When I visit the ship again I’m sure to pop in for another coffee and rocky road cake: D

Excellent café-bar, it is more of a café set-up though. But with a nice variety of alcohol beverages, it makes a good setting to drink a cider or sip a wine by the Avon, when the weather is nice and a table can be got outside. The place is clean and bright inside. The staff were friendly enough. The menu had a good variety too, it was hard to choose. Three of us four went for the pork sandwich in the end, when we saw it on the specials board. With stuffing, apple sauce and a little bit of crackling, it was excellent. Really nice and I would recommend it. The crackling is delicious. It looses a star for the time we had to wait between ordering and getting the food, a little too long for what was ordered. But it was worth the wait. Later that day, after we had been to see Brunels ss Great Britain, we went back for ice cream at the Dockyard Café Bar kiosk outside. But again the service was incredibly slow at this counter, so we gave up. Shame for them, they’d probably make more money if the service was a lot faster.

#592 The food here isn’t anything special. You have your typical sandwich offerings — all of which are overpriced — and plenty of juice options. They also have a short coffee list, but I do not recommend ordering any of it. All 3 of our lattes and my mocha came out lukewarm with very little flavor. Their saving graces are their restrooms and a gratuitous amount of outdoor seating for you to enjoy the harbor view. If it were located even 5 – 10 minutes away from the dock, I’m sure their walk-in rate would decrease by at least 50%. Personally, I hope they don’t rest on their laurels for too long and work to provide better quality food.

We were enjoying a walk along the water front and this café looked the ideal rest stop on our journey. There were lots of seats outside(as well as inside) so we could enjoy the sunshine and a great view of the water. It offers a combination of self and table service — you can choose what drinks and cold snacks to put on your tray and carry to the table yourself, but hot drinks and hot food are brought to your table by the very welcoming and friendly staff. I enjoyed a traditional cloudy lemonade, tea for two and a delicious chocolate honeycomb cake — a great combination of sweet and bitter flavours and crumbly, moist textures — I would recommend that to everyone! I could happily have sat there all day and watched the world go by, the Dockyard Café bar is everything it needs to be, relaxed, welcoming with good food — whatever the weather!

It’s all about the views over the docks with this one, which can be taken in through the glass walls of this café. Whilst there are plenty of pub based options for someone wanting a view over the water and a few restaurants, these places usually entails sitting outside, spending lots of money, and often mean you’ll end up drinking. If you don’t want to get cold, spend too much, or drink alcohol then the Dockyard café is the better place to go. Either a short ferry ride or a leisurely stroll from the city centre, a trip here can be combined with a visit to the S.S. Great Britain which is to be found next door. They’ve got plenty of lunch offerings and seeing as there’s so much to do and see on the ship it’s a good thing too. The food includes the usual sandwiches and rolls, as well as(of course) some hearty pasties. If you don’t want to splash out somewhere at somewhere like the Glassboat, this is great way to eat with a view of the harbourside.

To me, life doesn’t get much better than stopping for a coffee overlooking Bristol harbour throught the glass walls of the Dockyard café. You can even see the SS Great Britain in all its glory on the water. Bliss. It’s just as well the coffee’s good and the service is quick, otherwise my ideal may have been ruined somewhat. I was also pleased to see they have a licensed and stock a good bar full of wines and ales. Despite being the middle of autumn in Bristol, I even sat out on the terrace for a while, continental-style to watch the boats float past. I arrived after lunch, but a few folk were still tucking into oozy looking grilled paninis and squidy chocolate cake. What is extra cool(as if I need to add anything extra) the café is also available for private hire for up to 74 guests(interesting alternative wedding venue?) and has extended opening hours for the Harbour festival every year in autumn.

I stopped in here for a coffee this afternoon. The best thing about this café is undoubtedly its lovely location overlooking the harbour, near the SS Great Britain. The café has glass walls and has excellent views across the water. Most of the seating is indoors, although there is a small outdoor terrace overlooking the water. It has a chilled out atmosphere and friendly staff. I didn’t try the food, but they seemed to serve a range of snacks as well as having a licensed bar.

Dockyard Café Bar is a continental-type café. It is situated between Brunel’s ss Great Britain and the Matthews. The main part of this place is inside but there’s a waterside terrace and alfresco dining area at the entrance. This mesmerizing location with stunning harbour views it’s perfect for a relaxed lunch. The Dockyard Café Bar serves broad range of homemade lunchtime meals, grilled paninis, jacket potatoes, cakes, pastries and desserts. Wide range of drinks is also on offer including full selection of coffees and teas as well as wines, bottled beers, cold soft drinks. The café is also available for private hire(can hold up to 74 guests) and has extensive opening hours for special events such as the Harbour festival fireworks display from Top deck on Saturday 2 August 2008, mini tour of the ss Great Britain.
