Costcutter, it, well, cuts costs! Or at least that’s what you’d think it did. I have found with my experiences in Cost cutter shops that although the price is alot cheaper than, say for example, what you would find in a tesco express or an independant small convieniance store, the price is not really that cheap. The items are your usual food items from tinned tuna to curry sauce, and the pricing is still a bit to expensive for it to be considered a cost cutting store. However there is a good variety for such a small shop, and they do seem to encourage hiring young people which is a great thing to do, so it’s ok in my book,.

I’ve got a friend who lives right by this little store, so I’m found frequenting it whenever we need some man food(pizza) and drink(beer) to see us through another night of videogaming. The alcohol range ain’t great and is on-par price-wise with Threshers or something similar, but there’s always one or two offers, like eight cans for a fiver and so on. As well as a small frozen fridge, they do a selection of sandwiches and cold drinks, which is useful in summer. Best of all, the staff are really quite friendly as long as you’re friendly and they get to recognise and chat to regular faces.

This little shop is overshadowed by the nearby McColls. It does some good deals on groceries, but doesn’t have a great selection of alcohol, and what alcohol it does stock tends to be a little on the pricey side. However, it does boast a Western Union money transfer facility, and staff are friendly and accomodating.
