China China is in Staple Hill amongst a variety of other takeaways. It’s really convenient to get to because there’s loads of free parking in the area and this place in particular is directly outside the 49 bus stop towards Emersons Green. Sadly though, this isn’t Staple Hill’s finest. We had several different choices from the menu which were at best average and at worst uneatable. The worst were the Tai fishcakes. I can’t imagine what recipe was used but they weren’t like any Tai fishcake I have had before. They had a good taste of lemon grass but they had the consistency of rubber and no evidence of any fish in them. They were served with a sweet orange sauce which i presume should have been flavoured with chilli. Most had to go in the bin. At £4.20 for 8(very small) these were a waste of Money. The chicken chow mein was average. It would have looked more appetising if a few vegetables like carrots were included but as it was it was just a monotone brown colour which didn’t look nice. There’s plenty of staff behind the counter but none of them looked very happy or friendly. Maybe they were preparing themselves to face off complaints. It would take a brave person to come back and challenge these people for a refund! China China’s are quite competitively priced which I can only assume is how they managed to stay in business for so long.
