It is hard to describe my perception of BSB. I first went there when it was still Henry J Beans and have never come round to the idea that it has been replaced by a monstrosity like BSB. Just seeing the front of this bar sums up the pretentious nature of the place. It is the type of place that me and a mate have said we will go to at the end of the year, suited and booted, with a string of ridiculous lies so we will be like every other person in there. In fact, i think i actually admire them for creating a bar that embodies everything i hate about London night life and managing to bring it to Bristol so successfully.

As I’ve said in my reviews of the other two BSB bars in Bristol, avoid them like the plague. They are really hideous wine bar type establishments that attract the most generic people in all the land. If you want to pull an average lass in a short skirt or an average man in a shirt, this is the place to go. It’s gaudy, overpriced and just a horrible experience. The music is loud and garish pop music, stopping you talking to anyone in there(probably a good thing) and so it just becomes some sort of meat market for people to pick up mates based on looks alone(probably a bad thing). I thought we saved such things for when we’re blind drunk in a club?

Ironically named Bristol Stylish Bars, the Whiteladies branch is located on that famous strip of Whiteladies bars which are frequented by those ‘going out in Clifton’ but not quite making it all of the way up the hill due to craving for vodka cokes and sambuca shots. This place honestly isn’t that sophisticated or stylish, with events to include visits from Madness and the Wurzels, it’s certainly not something Clifton would be proud of. They do have a good range of cocktails for £5.50, including my favourite, ‘key lime pie’. It’s not a bad bar, it’s just trying to be something it’s not.
