In the wee small hours of the morning, when the whole of Bristol is fast asleep, and you’re drunk out of your tiny mind and in search of greasy chips Bristol Kebab and Burger House is like eating dinner at Gordon Ramsey’s. But in the cruel light of day this tiny kebab house seems just as grubby as last night’s clothes. Reasonably priced and conveniently placed at the bottom of Park Street it’s a guilty pleasure I’m destined to visit time and time again. There is a row of take away venues here so luckily you won’t have too long a wait, when you’re in desperate need of something fatty and warming.

Bristol Kebab and Burger House is such a great name for what this place has to offer. Yes of course it serves Kebabs and Burgers and if it was just called Kebab and Burger House that would be enough, but the«Bristol» part really hits the nail on the head. This establishment is for proper Bristolians. Forget about your fancy pants foreign muck. They want Kebabs and Burgers done the Bristol way, which is basically the same way most English city centres do them, big, sloppy and positively disgusting. This is your stereotypical kebab house for lagers fuelled oiks and pikeys making their way home from Oceana. You’re bound to see a fight in there if you stick around long enough and maybe even be in one yourself if you look at someone the wrong way. Not a pleasant experience. The food or the clientele.

Bristol Kebab & Burger House sounds a lot better than it really is. In truth it is just your run of the mill, standard kebab house. There really is nothing special about it, apart from the fact that the owners are really very patient and humorous about all the drunken feuds and arguments that go on nightly here. The food is of an average quality, but I would only ever visit this place if I was walking past in after a night out. Its a memory best forgotten!

In the early hours, these greasy kebab shops all merge into one. The Bristol Kebab & Burger House is no exception. It sells averagely priced average kebabs and little more. The name suggests something different, but I wouldn’t say that this is THE Kebab and Burger shop of Bristol. Try them all out and find your favourite. I’d personally step away from the city centre feeding frenzy to a more civilised fattening eatery.

You would think it was such a cliché that people would have started to think twice and stop getting into fights in the queue at the kebab shop. Such thinking has let to permeate into the heads of some Bristolians, unfortunately. This means that on any given Saturday evening you are likely to find a) lots of police standing around looking annoyed and/or b) young men in formal shirts shoving each other. Oh, Bristol… Despite having this battleground on its doorstep Bristol Kebab and Burger House manages to function as a reasonably good fast food establishment. There’s no messing about here. You can get burgers, chips, kebabs, and other fattening delights. It’s cheap, it’s not pretty, and after a few pints(if there’s no trouble that evening) very tempting. The staff even manage to see the funny side of all the brawlers. Remember to ask for salt and vinegar if you want it.
