I’ve stayed here twice now and while the first experience was five stars, the second was a bit less than ideal. The hotel itself is first-class: beautiful, clean and quite large for a hotel in the heart of the city. Room service was good and it’s close to most of the things one might wish to do while in Bristol. The problem with my second visit, on a Saturday, compared to the midweek first stay, was that the hotel is also located smack dab in the club area for Bristol, a college town. The noise kept going, and going and going and eventually a party boat floated down the river, blaring dance music loud enough that I don’t know how those on the boat survived. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re visiting over a weekend.

Situated on the Welshback and overlooking Bristol Harbour, this hotel is a litlle slice of luxury in the heart of Bristol. Minutes away from the city centre and popular bars and nightclubs, the Brigstow is well situated for a night on the tiles in Bristol. On the one occasion that I stayed here I was on the top floor with a balcony facing the water, which I didn’t have to pay any extra for. The room was beautifully decorated and very modern, with rich wood and turquoise wall art. The bed was angled diagonally which is a little unconventional for a hotel but only enhanced my stay. The staff we efficient, professional and helpful when we wanted to book breakfast and needed some extra towels in our room. Breakfast in the downstairs restaurant was delicious and plentiful, though if there are mini muffins and a fry up on offer then I’m generally happy! If you are planning on visiting Bristol and want to relax in luxury then this is the place to be.

A lovely modern hotel hidden inside an awful concrete exterior. Very nice well decorated(again modern style) rooms. Very comfortable and quiet. Very nice views from the rooms on the river side of the hotel. Breakfast was a posh hotel style english breakfast, which took an age to appear, and was very nice but lacked the volume to tackle my hangover. I’d recommend the Brigstow to anyone staying in central Bristol.

Don’t be put off by the look of this hotel as I think it must have been an office block in a previous life. Inside though it has a bright and airy modern reception area with friendly reception staff. A very central hotel, it offered very reasonable prices for two nights bed and breakfast. The main centre of Bristol is in walking distance and the Mary Redcliffe Church is opposite and one of the treasures of Bristol so well-worth a visit.

I stayed in the Mercure Brigstow last December, and thought it was a great place to stay. Its very central, so fantastic if you are going out and want to explore the city. The hotel is described as a boutique style, which was nice enough. The room wasn’t especially clean(the obvious things were clean, but things like shelves in the wardrobe, on the floor near the bed, etc were not) The bathroom had a(very) small TV built into the wall above the taps in the bath. I was far too excited. The price was reasonable if booked in advance and through one of their usual deals — I think it was £59 for one night and £69 for the second.
