The whole purpose of going to this place in the first place was to have afternoon tea with nice view of the Clifton suspension bridge. I was not let down. It definitely exceeded my expectation. I chose cream tea set which was £4.95 with two huge scone, clotted cream and jam. Tea was also very nice. The atmosphere was very relaxing as I could see the view of the bridge with lights all over. Inside the café, they also decorated with Christmas tree, stars, etc. We had a lovely time and even decided to have dinner there. Dinner menu, however, doesn’t have many choices to choose from. I would prefer the all day menu which serves till 6pm. Even so, loved this place!

For views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge you can’t beat The Bridge Café, which clings to the rockface at the rear of the Avon Gorge Hotel. I went here for lunch today and took advantage of the £9.95 for two courses offer, which was incredibly reasonable given the spectacular location and tasty and well-presented food. The one thing that did surprise me was how quiet the restaurant was. Fair enough, it was a Monday lunchtime, but given the beautiful setting I thought it would have been more popular.

I don’t rate this as a food restaurant, the food here is mediocre at best. Its such a shame as it could be a fantastic spot to get food. However they seem to know they have one of the most incredible locations in the city and therefore feel like they don’t have to try. I won’t have anything but nibbles here now when I come for a drink. the outdoor terrace really is a fantastic location for a drink. Overlooking the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the vista’s are amazing. Highly recommend as a drinks spot, but recommend moving on when the hunger sets in to find better food elsewhere.

With such an outstanding location overlooking Avon Gorge and the beautiful Clifton Suspension Bridge, this café certainly makes the most of its location but doesn’t score quite so highly with me on its food. It’s part of the Avon Gorge Hotel, but it’s open to non-guests too and is always heaving at weekends with tourists, visitors and hotel guests. You can get coffee all day, but check before you go there for breakfast, lunch or dinner because they’re served between specific times. If it’s the food you’re going for, I’d say there are plenty of other establishments in Clifton offering better value and quality than the Bridge Café — but you’re really paying for the whole experience here, particularly the elegant surroundings and the location, and I’d highly recommend eating here at least once if only to enjoy what has to be one of Bristol’s most striking and spectacular views.

This is the small a la carte restaurant that is part of the Avon Gorge Hotel and boasts one of the best views in Bristol. Situated on the cliff top, as you dine you can look out at the Clifton Suspension Bridge — a truly beautiful site. It’s also a very beautiful and elegant restaurant. I have enjoyed both a lunch and an evening meal here. The lunch menu is great because especially if you order off the set menu — the Bridge Café offers 2 courses for £9.95 and 3 courses for £11.95 — fantastic value for money. I really enjoyed the risotto and the staff could not have been more helpful — we wanted for nothing! The evening meal I had there was a real treat; I can still taste the starter — seared scallops — cooked perfectly. I celebrated the end of my university exams here, in the sun, with a delicious lunch and many jugs of Pimms, I felt like the king of Spain(?). A lovely restaurant with impeccable service and a beautiful setting, you completely forget that you are in a hotel — don’t let that overrule your decision to eat there — it is fantastic.

I am not a massive fan of this place in terms of food and value, however the location is actually amazing and pretty much makes it worth one visit at least! Bridge Café is the Avon Gorge Hotel’s little café, that’s also open to the public as well as hotel residents. It looks out onto the immense Avon Gorge and the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and promised beautiful and stunning views! It’s just a shame that they charge so much for their menu, and the food isn’t even that great. However, it does offer a children’s menu which is good for families — and perhaps the negative opinion is just my own because it always seems to be busy! So maybe give this one a try if your interested, because even if the food doesn’t impress you the views definitely will — so at least you’ll get something good out of your experience!

If I only had one night in Clifton(preferably Summer), this is the place that I would go for dinner. The view is spectacular and gives a great overview of one of the things that Bristol if famous for — the Suspension Bridge. It is on the upper end of the scale, but we didn’t find it stuffy at all. The staff were very attentive and there was a great atmosphere. From our experience, the food is a bit hit and miss(perhaps that was expectation) and incomparable to the setting. Classic, contemporary, simple, elegant, on top of the world(literally and figuratively), divine… just some of the words that come to mind.
